I'm setting up my Steinel L 610 LED and I don't quite unders : 4049

I'm setting up my Steinel L 610 LED and I don't quite understand the section for setting the 'ON' time.
First bit was fine 'Hold button until LED flashes' but when I released it didn't stop flashing for a while and didn't flash again so I don't know the 'ON' time. I also don't understand the next bit about pressing the button a second time until the LED goes out. Is this when the LED is flashing the second time and do you hold the button for the required time you want after the light has gone out or what?
