Operating Instructions
1. Starting Up
After you have successfully installed your S6 or S6-R and performed the
download it is time to perform the first start up. Firstly make sure your
vehicle is parked in as open a space as possible, clear of tall trees and
buildings so that the GPS extension antenna has a clear view of the sky
above. Next power the unit up by pressing Button 1 (please refer to
diagram on page 4). The LCD display will briefly read ’Snooper’ and will
then automatically change to the ’SEARCHING’ display. The S6 needs to
acquire a minimum of 3 satellites to work effectively. Once this has been
achieved the S6 will proceed to the standby screen (See Standby Screen
next in this section) and the satellite counter on the left hand side of the
display will indicate how many satellites your unit can currently see. As
soon as the standby screen is displayed your S6 is ready for use and will
now automatically alert you of any locations stored in its database (as
well as radar and laser alerts if you have the S6-RLD connected). A
variety of Audible and Visual alert patterns are explained later on in this
section. See ’Features and Settings’ to personalise your unit.
As the GPS engine and antenna have never been used before, the first
’Cold’ start up could take as long as thirty minutes. Once initialised,
subsequent start-ups will take as little as three minutes.
2. Standby Screen
The Standby Screen is the screen you will see when your unit is powered
up and successfully installed. It is the display you will see when the unit is
not currently detecting or locating a source of radar, laser or a stored
coordinate.
