easily, place the front groove of the centre of the
planer shoe onto the workpiece edge and guide
the planer forward evenly, maintaining an angle
of 45º (Fig. 4).
6. CHIPS OUTLET
The chips outlet can be shifted to the right (nor-
mal position) or left by placing the lever L(Fig. 1)
facing the side you have selected.
The connection of the planer to a collector is car-
ried out by means of the collector.
W
ARNING! The external collector attachment
must never be set up on the machine if no collec-
tor is used. This would prevent the free ejection
of chips.
7. BRAKE FOR BLADE-HOLDER
The planer comes equipped with a mechanical
centrifugal brake that reduces the time taken
from switch disconnection to stopping the blade-
holder down to less than 10 seconds.
Foryourown safety, should you notice that more
time is needed to stop, have the brake replaced
at a RUPES technical service outlet.
8. REST SHOE
The S rest shoe for the planer (Fig. 11) enables
you to park the machine immediately after a work
operation with no risk of damage to the workpla-
ce surface or the planer blades.
Forthe next work operation, the rest shoe swings
up out of the way, thus allowing the planer to
slide all along its base.
9. REPLACING AND CONTROLLING
THE BLADES
WARNING! Always remove the plug from the
mains socket before carrying out this operation.
a) REPLACING STANDARD BLADES
To replace standard blades or invert them to use
their reverse head, proceed as follows: Loosen
the three locking screws M (Fig. 5) using the
open-end spanner in a clockwise direction.
Lower the blade-holder protective device N (Fig.
5, 6) to obtain enough place and to move the
blade-holder sideways.
Remove the blade and replace it with a new one
or reinsert the same blade with the reverse head.
Reinsert the support with the blade into the blade
holder, checking with the help of a rule that the
fixed blade head O (Fig. 7) is level with the rule
and does not jut out. Tighten the screws M (Fig.
5) in counter-clockwise direction with the open-
end spanner
.
Remove any dust and resin from the seats of the
blade-holder and supports before inserting new
blades.
BLADE REGULATION
Blade supports are regulated before leaving the
factory and do not require readjustment when
changing the blade. Nonetheless, if for any rea-
son they have to be adjusted, do so as follows:
Loosen screws M (Fig. 5) slightly with the open-
end spanner in clockwise direction.
Place a rule over the base and loosen the screws
P (Fig. 8) of the blade support to raise it or con-
ceal it until it is perfectly on a level with the rule.
Verify this adjustment in two points near the end
of the blade.
Check that the side head of the blade O (Fig. 7)
is level with the rule and does not jut out. Tighten
the screws M (Fig. 5) in counter-clockwise direc-
tion with the open-end spanner.
b) REPLACING HSS 3-MM STRAIGHT
BLADES
The procedure for replacing straight blades is
identical to that given in section A). The only dif-
ference is that here it is necessary to regulate the
blade height (See Figs. 12 to 19).
c) REPLACING HSS 3-MM RUSTIC BLADES
The procedure for replacing rustic blades is iden-
tical to that given in section A). The only differen-
ce is that here the blades require additional verti-
cal adjustment (See Figs. 20 to 27).
W
ARNING! The lowest point of the rustic blade
must not jut out from the planer base. See (Fig.
25).
W
ARNING! After any blade change, ensure that
the 6 clamping screws M (Fig. 5) are tightly scre-
wed down before starting up the planer again.
When replacing the blade-holders, use only ori gi
nal RUPES components.
10. CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION BELT
WARNING! Always remove the plug from the
mains socket before carrying out any work on the
machine.
Remove the protective cover Q (Fig. 4) by loose
-
ning the 2 screws that hold it in place. Cut the
worn toothed belt with pliers or a knife and remo-
ve.
Clean the pulley and the driving wheel carefully
before replacing the belt with another original
RUPES belt.
Assemble the toothed belt (fig. 9), turning it
clockwise while simultaneously moving it towards
the inside. Be careful to mesh it correctly with the
teeth of the pulley without forcing it.
