Place it out of the reach of children.
Leave a ventilation distance of at least 20 cm to all four sides and 1 m to
the top in order to prevent damage caused by heat or fat splatters and to
grant that your work area is unobstructed. Ensure a free air circulation.
Never operate the appliance in the vicinity of heat sources (ovens, gas flame
etc.) or in explosive environments where flammable liquids or gases are
located.
Caution – Risk of fire! This appliance is not intended for installation into
worktops.
Do not use the appliance as space heater.
For a safe cut-off pull the mains plug after each use.
Initial use and grilling
Important Risk of injury and burns!
Grill plate, casing and accessory parts become hot during
operation. Hot surfaces remain hot for some time even after
switching off the appliance! Keep that in mind when you
touch the appliance and pay attention to hot splashes of fat
and steam during cooking.
Ensure that the fat collecting channel is inserted in the appliance.
Connect the appliance to the mains.
The operating pilot lamp on the Ceran
®
top illuminates when the appliance is switched on.
The rotary knob can simply be retracted into the casing by pressing it once. If pressed once more, the
knob pops up again. This protects the knob from splashes and averts unintentional operation. At the
same time, this prevents that little children might switch on or re-set the grill.
Use the rotary knob to switch on the appliance and to set the desired temperature. The temperature is
infinitely variable from keeping warm to searing at up to 380 °C.
The grill is equipped with an automatic temperature system, i.e. it heats up with maximum power at
each setting and maintains the temperature by adjusting the power supply accordingly.
Use the following settings:
1 ... 5 for keeping food warm and to reheat
4 ... 9 for steaming, stewing, cooking, grilling
8 ... 12 for quick searing
To start grilling, pre-heat the appliance on high level for 4 - 6 minutes.
The food to be grilled can be placed directly on the Ceran
®
surface. We recommend oiling the grill
surface slightly before grilling unmarinated meat or vegetables.
Meat should be started at a high level, reduce the temperature after a while.
Marinated food might generate some smoke during grilling; therefore sear it at level 8 maximum.
• During grilling you can clean the grill surface by shoving away food residues into the lateral fat-collecting
channel with the provided scraper. Important: Protect your hands with pot holders or oven gloves.
