The OMRON RS6 is a compact and easy to use blood pr essure
monitor , operating on the o scillometric principle. It measures your
blood pressure and pulse rate simply and quickly . F or comfort able
controlled inflation without the need of pressure pre-se tting or
re-inflation the device uses it s advanced “IntelliSense” technology .
Intended Use
This product is designed to measure the blood pres sure and pulse
rate of people within the r ange of the designated wrist cuff, following
the instructions in this instruction manual.
It is mainly designed f or general household use. Please read the
Important Safety Information in this inst ruction man ual before usi n g
the unit.

• If battery fluid shou ld get in your eyes, immediately rinse with

(General Usage)
• Do not leave t he unit unattended with infants or person s who
cannot express their consent.
• Do not use t he unit for any purpose other than measur ing blood
pressure.
• Do not use a mobile phone or other devices that emit
electromagnetic fields, near the unit. This may result i n incorr ect
operation of the unit.
• Do not disassem ble the unit or wrist c uff.
• Do not operate the unit in a moving vehicle (car , airplane).
(Battery Usage)
• If battery fluid should get on your skin or clothing, immediately rinse
with plenty of clean wat er.
• Use only two “ AAA” alkaline (LR03) bat teries with this unit. Do not
use other types of batteries.
• Do not insert the batteries with their polarities incor rectly aligned.
• Replace old batteries with new ones i mmed iately . Replace both
batteries at the same time.
• Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for three months or
more.
• Do not use new and used batteries together.
General Precautions
• Do not app ly strong shocks and vibrations to or drop the unit.
• Do not take meas urements aft er bathing, drinking alcohol or
caffeine, smoking, exercising or eati n g.
• Do not inflate the wrist cuff when it is not wrapped ar ound your
wrist.
• Read and f ollow the “Important information regarding E lectro
Magnetic Compatibility (EMC)” in the T e chnical Data Sect ion.
• Read and follow t he “Corr ect Disposal of T his Product” in the
T e chnical Data Section when disposing of t he devic e and any used
accessories or optional part s .

2.1 Inst alling/Replacing the Batt eries
• If the battery low symbol ( ) appears on the display , turn of f
the unit then replace bot h batteries at the sam e time.
• The measurement values continue to be s tored in memory
even after the batteries are replaced.
Disposal of used batteries should be carried out in accordance
with the national reg ulations for the disposal of bat teries.
2.2 Setting the Date and T ime
Notes:
• If the bat teries have been removed, the date and time setting
will need to be reset.
• If the date and time are not set, “-:--” appears during or after
measurement.
3.1 Appl ying the W rist Cuff
Do not apply over clothing.
3.2 How to Sit Correct ly
• Relax your wrist and hand. Do not bend your wrist back, clench
your fist, or bend your wrist forward.
3.3 T aking a Reading
Not es:
• T o cancel a measurem ent, press the ST ART/STOP button at
any time dur ing measurement.
• Remain still while taking a m easurement.
After the Positioning symbol lights fo r more than 2 s econds,

Cuff Wr apping Guide
The C uf f Wra pping Guid e is a uniqu e feature th at
indica tes if the cu ff is not wrapped tig htly enough
arou nd the wrist. Ev en when the is displ ayed, a
blood press ure r eadin g will b e taken.
Note: This reading is NOT reli able due to the incorrect
wrapping of the cuf f. Please wrap the cuff again, t aking
care to wrap it correctly and t ake t he measurement
again. When the is displayed, the cuff is correctly
wrapped tightly enough on the wrist and the reading is
accurate and reliable.
The monitor automatically stores the measurement in its memory .
It will automatically turn off af ter two minutes.
This criteria is f or home blood pres sure measurement.
If the irregular heartbeats cause the measurement to be
invalid, no result is shown. If the irregular heartbeat symbol
( ) is shown after you have taken a measurement , repeat
the measurem ent. If the irregular heart beat symbol ( ) is
shown frequently , please make your doctor aware of it .
• The blood pressure can diff er between the right arm and t he
left arm, and theref ore also the measured blood pressure
values can be different. OMRON recommends to always use
the same arm for measur ement. If the values between the
two arms dif f er substantially , please check with your
physician which arm to use for your measurement.

• Y our blood pressure monitor includes an
irregular heartbeat feature. Irregular
heartbeats can influence the results of the
measurement. Th e irregular heartbeat
algorithm automatically determines if the
measurement is usable or needs to be
repeated. If the measur ement results are
affected by irregular heartbeat s but the result
is valid, the result is shown together with the
irregular heartbeat symbol ( ).
• If yo u move du ring meas uremen t, the
movem ent err or symbo l ( ) will appear on th e
displa y . Keep st ill and re peat the measure ment.
Notes:
• Wait 2 - 3 minutes before taking another
blood pressure me asurement. Waiting
between readings allows the arteries to
retu rn to the condi tion pr ior to tak ing th e
blood pressure me asurement.
