BEFORE DECIDING
THAT THE REMOTE CONTROL
UNIT
IS MALFUNCTIONING
lf the RC-770 does not seem
to
operate
properly,
make the
checks
described below to
determine the
problem.
lf the
corrective
measures below do not solve the
problem,
or
if
the
problem
is not among
those described below. contact
your
dealer or the
nearest DENON Service Center or DENON
office.
Í.
"USE"
and
"LEARN" keep flashing
o
Check that
the RC-770 and the other
remote
control
unit are correctly
oriented to one another,
and that
they are the
proper
distance apart.
.
Check
that the batteries
in
the remote control
units
are
not dead.
{Try
inserting new batteries.)
2. "ERROR" appears
no matter
how many
tames
the
operation is repeated.
o
The code being
input to the RC-770 is not constant.
To
store a signal
code, the
relevant button
on
the RC-770
must
be
pressed
first,
followed
by the corresponding
button on the other
remote control unit.
"USE"
and
"LEARN"
are
displayed every time storage of one
button
is finished, so
record
the
next button after
"USE"
and
"LEARN"
are displayed.
r
The
code
being input to the
RC-770 is not
stable.
This
situation is handled
in the same way as when the code
is
not
constant,
as described
in
the
previous para-
grapn.
3.
The TV,
audio,
video, or other component does
not
operate
with
the
RC-77O though the signal codes were
stored at
programmable
buttons.
o
Check
that codes
have
been stored
properly.
o
Depending on the system.
it may be impossible to
store
the desired code, or only a
part
of the code
may
be stored.
o
lf the batteries are dead,
replace
all
four with new
dry
batteries.
4.
"ERROR"
appeaÍs when the RC-770 is in the use mode.
o
Nothing is
stored
at the button which was
pressed.
Use the storing
procedure
described
above to store
codes at the
button.
5. When
you purchase
a
new TV, video recorder,
audio
component or other unit controllable with the RC-770:
o
See
the
section
above on changing stored codes to
update the codes
in the RC-770.
6. The maximum
distance
from the
component being
controlled is
shoÉer
than that oÍ the
other
remote
contÍol unit.
ïhe maximum distance from
the comoonent under
control is different íor the RC-770 and the
other
remote
control unit.
ïry carefully storing the code again at an.appropriate
distance.
Try
to use new batteries. lf necessary. store the
codes
again.
7. The RC-770 does not operate.
o
First try to
operate the component using the controls
on its operating
panel.
lf the
component does
not
operate, the
problem
is with the component.
o
lf the component does not respond for
only certain
buttons
on
the RC-770,
store the codes at these
buttons
again.
o
Try
to use
new
batteries. lf necessary, store the codes
again.
8.
The
codes
stored in the RC-770 have been cleared.
o
The
codes
are lost if no batteries are in the RC-770
for
more than one
hour. lf this happens,
store
the codes
again.
9.
The
component's
response is slow when the RG-770
is
operated.
o
Try carefully storing the codes once again at an
appropriate
distance from the component
(3
to
5 cm
11-3116"
to 2"1t..
o
The component's
response is
sometimes
delayed
slightly.
Although the RC-770 is able to record and reproduce most
inhared
signals,
it
may
not
be able to
record
certain
irregular
dgnals
from
other
remote
control
units,
even
if they
are
infrared signals.
