Installation and connection
Refer to the “Preparations for installation”chapter.
The wireless switch is ideally suitable for switching a consumer load on/off wirelessly. The wire-
less switch can be used universally due to its particularly small size.
Ensure appropriate contact protection during connection, installation and subsequent
operation of the wireless switch. Otherwise, there is a risk of a life-threatening electric
shock!
Connect the consumer load to the two middle screw
terminals. The connection “N” is the neutral wire, the
connection “
” is the connected output of phase/L.
The outer two screw terminals are used for connecting to
the mains voltage (“N” = Neutral wire, “L” = Phase).
Install the wireless switch in the flush/wall-mounted box
or the housing you are using such that the little control key
and the LED point to the front/outside towards you.
The control key is required for teach-in to a radio
transmitter of the RS2W radio system.
Take care during installation that there is enough
free space around the control key, so it will not be switched on by accident.
Now, switch on the mains voltage.
Function test: Turn the connected load on/off
using the control key
Briefly press the control key on the wireless switch to turn the connected consumer load on/off.
An LED next to the control key shows the current switching state:
LED is on: Consumer load switched on
LED is off: Consumer load is switched off
Teach-in of the wireless switch to a radio transmitter
The wireless switch can be taught-in to each radio transmitter of the RS2W radio system.
Refer to the operating instructions for the radio transmitter to be used prior to the
teach-in procedure.
Keep a minimum distance of 20 - 30 cm between the wireless switch and the radio
transmitter during the teach-in procedure. Otherwise, it may happen that the registra-
tion process fails.
If the wireless switch is turned on (LED next to the control key is on, the connected consumer
load is enabled), then turn off the wireless switch first.
To do this, briefly press the control key; the LED next to the control key must go out as a result.
The wireless switch must be turned off (LED next to the control key is off); otherwise,
the registration process cannot be performed.
Start the teach-in procedure on the radio transmitter.
Example: On a 12-channel hand-held radio transmitter of the RS2W radio system, both of the
“ON” and “OFF” keys should be held down simultaneously until the red LED of the hand-held
radio transmitter flashes. Release the two keys; the red LED continues to flash and the registra-
tion mode is enabled.
Hold down the control key on the wireless switch until the registration process on the radio
transmitter is complete.
Example: On a 12-channel hand-held radio transmitter of the RS2W radio system, the LED lights
up blue and then goes dark. Now release the control key of the wireless switch.
The wireless switches on to indicate that the registration process is complete.
Up to 5 receivers can be taught-in to a switch channel of a radio transmitter of the
RS2W radio system. This allows you to simultaneously turn on/off, e.g. up to 5 wireless
switches by a single keystroke.
It is also possible to register the wireless switch on several radio transmitters.
However, do not register the dimmer supplied with the R2SW radio switching system
and the wireless switch together on a single switching channel of a radio transmitter!
Always register the wireless switch on a separate channel of the radio transmitter.
Deleting a taught-in wireless switch on a radio transmitter
The procedure corresponds exactly to the teach-in procedure of the the wireless switch on the
radio transmitter. For more information, see the operating instructions for the radio transmitter of
the RS2W radio system to be used.
Switching on/off the load
The wireless switch and the load connected with it can be turned on/off wirelessly only when it
has been registered on a radio transmitter of the RS2W radio system.
Refer to the above description and the operating instructions for the radio transmitter to be used.
Maintenance
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be opened or dissembled for any
reason. Repair or maintenance work must be carried out by a specialist.
Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between a radio transmitter of the RS2W radio system
and the wireless switch is up to 150 m under optimum conditions.
This value, however, is the so-called “open space range” (the range when transmitter
and receiver are visible to each other, without interfering influences).
In practice, however, there may be walls, room ceilings, etc. between the transmitter and the
receiver which reduce the range accordingly.
Due to the different influences on the radio transmission, no specific range can be guaranteed.
However, trouble-free operation is usually possible in a single family house.
Sometimes the range can be considerably reduced due to:
Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings, drywalls with metal post and beam construction
Coated/metallised insulated glass
Proximity to metallic & conductive objects (e.g., heating elements)
Proximity to human bodies
Other devices using the same frequency (e.g. wireless headphones or loudspeakers)
Proximity to electric motors/devices, transformers, power-supply units, computers
Declaration of conformity (DOC)
We, Conrad Electronic SE, Klaus-Conrad-Straße 1, D-92240 Hirschau, herewith declare that this
product conforms to the fundamental requirements and the other relevant regulations of the direc-
tive 1999/5/EC.
The Declaration of conformity for this product is available at:
