The name of the DNLA server consists of the network name of your NAS and the appendix
“DLNA sever”. You can change the name of your DNLA server, but changing the network
name of your NAS will reset the DLNA server name.
You can change the multimedia folder to any folder on your NAS. Please note that some
DLNA clients cannot access password protected folders. In that case you should set your
media folder to .../public.
10. iTunes media server
The integrated iTunes media server allows you to host your iTunes library for all network
clients instead of having a copy on every device. The iTunes server will make all music files
inside the selected folder to all iTunes clients in your network.
11. External devices
Using the USB connectors on the back of your NAS you can connect USB storage devices or
USB printers and make them available for all network clients.
11.1 external storage devices
If you connect a USB mass storage device like a USB HDD or a USB flash drive your NAS will
automatically create a public shared folder. If your USB drive is not recognized, click the
Refresh button. Your NAS has a built-in backup function that allows you to copy all data from
the USB drive to your NAS. To do so, select the destination path from the dropdown menu
and click the Backup button. The NAS will create a new folder at the target location and copy
all data into that folder.
11.2 USB printer
You can connect a USB printer directly to your NAS and share it in your network, so all
users can use this printer. Please note that not all printer models are supported. Additional
functions like scanning or faxing are not available over the network.
Before you start with the network setup of your printer, please make sure you have the latest
drivers you your printer at hand.
11.2.1 Printer setup
Connect the printer to your NAS, using a USB cable not longer than 5 meters. Make sure
both, NAS and printer are powered on. Log on to the administration web interface using the
admin account and open the section external devices -> USB printers. Click the refresh button
to search for connected printers. All supported printer models will be shown inside the box
on the left. Once your printer is properly recognized by your NAS, you can proceed with the
client setup.
