MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
Installing a coil with prewound line
1. Hold the outer coil with one hand and unscrew the bump
knob counter-clockwise with the other hand (Fig. 26).
Check that the bolt inside the bump knob can move freely.
Replace a damaged bump knob.
2. Remove the old inner coil from the outer coil (Fig. 26).
3. Take the spring out of the inner coil (Fig. 26).
4. Clean the inner coil, the spring, the shaft and the inner
surface of the outer coil with a clean cloth.
5. Insert the spring into the new inner coil.
NOTE: The spring must be installed on the inner coil before
the line coil is reinstalled.
6. Feed the ends of the line into the eyes in the outer coil
(Fig. 34).
7. Insert the new inner coil into the outer coil (Fig. 34).
Then press to connect both coils. Hold the inner and
outer coils, grip the ends of the line and pull firmly to
release the line from both retaining slots in the coil.
8. Hold the inner spool in place and firmly tighten the bump
head again by rotating it anti-clockwise.
Checking the oil level
Caution: Before using the unit, always check the oil level.
Never use the unit if the oil level is too low (Fig. 36).
1. Place the unit on a level, raised surface so that
the cutting attachment is off the ground (Fig. 35).
2. Clean the area around the oil plug.
3. Unscrew the oil plug.
4. Checking the oil level. The oil should reach the
uppermost turn of the thread (Fig. 36).
5. If the oil level is too low, top up the oil in small quantities
until the oil level reaches the uppermost turn of the
thread.
6. Screw in the oil plug again.
Note: Do not pour in too much oil! Ensure that the O-ring
(Fig. 17) is seated correctly on the oil plug.
Changing the oil
Caution: Observe the maintenance intervals according to
the maintenance schedule. Non-observance may result
in serious engine damage. Wear protective gloves.
Note: The engine should still be warm (not hot).
1. Unscrew the oil plug.
2. Pour all the oil out of the filling orifice into a container.
To do this, position the unit vertically (Fig. 37).
Note: Dispose of oil in accordance with local regulations.
3. Wipe off oil residue/dirt.
4. Fill engine with 90 ml of 4-stroke oil SAE30 belonging
to classification SF, SG, SH.
5. Screw in the oil plug again.
SERVICING THE AIR FILTER
Caution: Observe the maintenance intervals according
to the maintenance schedule. Non-observance may
result in serious engine damage.
1. Open air filter cover. Press the holder (4) and open
the cover (2) upwards (Fig. 38).
2. Remove air filter (3) (Fig. 38).
3. Clean filter with a household detergent and water.
Rinse out thoroughly and leave to dry (Fig. 39).
4. Lightly oil filter with clean oil SAE30 (Fig. 40).
5. Press filter together to remove excess oil (Fig. 41).
6. Install filter.
Note: If the unit is operated without a filter, the
guarantee/warrant will be deemed null and void.
7. Close the air filter cover again, ensuring that it locks into
place (Fig. 42).
Adjust carburettor
The idle speed can be set with the screw (Fig. 43). Have this
setting carried out by a specialist company only.
Check/replace spark plug
Caution: Observe the maintenance intervals according
to the maintenance schedule. Replace spark plugs with
original spark plugs only.
1. Stop the engine and leave it to cool down.
2. Remove spark-plug terminal.
3. Remove dirt from around the spark plug.
4. Unscrew spark plug to the left with a spark plug wrench.
5. Check/set the electrode gap 0.6 mm (Fig. 44).
Note: Replace a damaged, sooted or dirty spark plug.
6. Screw in spark plug and tighten to a torque of
12.3–13.5 Nm. Do not tighten too tightly.
