Fotograferen is een waardevolle en aangename bezigheid. Met de moderne cameratechniek wordt u

gelukkig veel meet- en regelwerk uit handen genomen. Kennis van nu de volgende basisprincipes zal

u helpen uw foto's nog meer naar uw hand te zetten.

Het diafragma, de regelbare opening in het

objectief, regelt niet alleen de hoeveelheid

doorgelaten licht, maar ook de scherpte-

diepte; dat is de zone voor en achter het

onderwerp waarin alles scherp wordt weer-

gegeven. Hoe hoger het diafragmagetal,

des te groter is de scherptediepte. Dan is

bijvoorbeeld alles vanaf 1,5 m van de came-

ra tot aan de horizon scherp. Bij een hoog

diafragmagetal is de opening in het objectief

klein, dus dat vraagt wel om relatief lange

sluitertijden. Dat is weer niet het geval bij

een laag diafragmagetal (een grote ope-

ning), dat een beperkte scherptediepte

geeft; dan is bijvoorbeeld alleen het onder-

werp scherp maar blijft de achtergrond

onscherp. Een goede instelling voor portret-

ten, met een scherp onderwerp en een

onscherpe achtergrond.

Landschapsfoto's moeten vaak van voor tot

achter scherp zijn en vragen doorgaans dus

om een hoog diafragmagetal voor veel

scherptediepte.
