OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Planing depth
WARNING! Always unplug the machine before carrying
out work on it.
Regulate the cutting depth, from 0-2/2,5mm. without
gradations, turning the handle K. Fig. 1, making out the value
in the scales J and H.
2. Surface planing
WARNING! The plane should only be applied to the work-
piece in the switched-on position.
Position the machine with the front section of mobile plate
S over the work-piece. During surface planing (wood beams
and tables etc) mobile plate S and base plate U should
always rest on the entire work surface (danger of blade
repercussion). The blade should be guided with both hands
and moved forward in a uniform fashion over the work
surface.
For surface planing a shallow cutting depth is recommended,
repeating the process several times.
3. Canting off edges
Guide slot P, located in the centre of mobile plate S, enables
fast, simple edge canting off to be carried out on the work-
piece.
The plane should be placed with guide slot P over the edge of
the work-piece and then guided along its length. A constant
angle of 45º should be maintained during this operation,
together with a uniform advance movement.
4. Carrying out routing and bevelling
- Depth limit N
The assembling must take place at the right side and the
depth reduction may be adjusted from 0 to 15mm.
In order to enable the reduction, it is important that the blade
should be ranged well sideways with the side level of the
mobile and xed bases.
- Side limit L
The side limit L may be adjusted at both sides of the plane,
keeping it immovable by means of the control I.
In order to assemble the lateral stop, rst place the set square
V and x it with wing nut I (Fig. 1).
Place the lateral stop L, put the nut on the hexagonal slot
of the upper part of set square V and x it with wing nut W
(Fig. 1).
In order to disassemble the lateral stop, follow the instruction
in a reverse order.
In order to adjust the lateral stop, loosen wing nut W, move
the side stop in order to achieve the desired measurement
and again tighten wing nut W.
Using depth end-stop N together with side end-stop L permits
routing operations.
5. Support foot D
Support foot D should always be installed and allows the
machine to be rested on a surface immediately after use
without any danger of damaging the workpiece surface or
the blades.
When using the machine, support foot D is folded backwards
leaving the rear plane surface free.
PARTS REPLACEMENT
1. Blade replacement (Figs. 3)
WARNING! Only hard metal blades may be used with this
tool.
It is tted with hard metal blades when it leaves the factory
. When blade replacement becomes necessary, both should
be replaced at the same time. Otherwise, the lack of balance
could lead to vibration reducing the lifetime of the tool.
The blades of hard metal have two rows of edges and may be
converted or changed without having to be adjusted. In order
to convert or change the blades, just screw off by one or two
turns the screws O and with a pointed piece of wood, take out
sideways the blade.
Before reassembling again the blade, clean the carrier or
guide of the blade, making sure the carving of the blade and
the guide rule t correctly.
Adjust the lateral position of the blade to the level of the xed
and mobile bases by means of a wooden strip, Fig. 3.
Tighten again the three screws O.
PRECAUTION: Jagged or worn blades cannot be
resharpened and must be replaced.
2. Toothed belt replacement (Fig. 4)
The procedure for replacing the toothed belt is described
below:
1. Loosen screw R and remove toothed belt cover Q.
2. Cut the toothed belt with shears or a knife and remove it.
3. Before installing a new toothed belt, thoroughly clean
pulley G and drive wheel E.
4. Install the new toothed belt on drive wheel E and press it in
place, while rotating large pulley G at the same time.
5. Replace toothed belt cover Q and x it in place with screw
R.
DUST EXTRACTION
WARNING! Always check that the machine is switched
off and unplugged before removing or installing any dust
and sawdust suction device.
Dust extraction keeps the workplace clean, prevents dust
build-up in the air and facilitates waste elimination.
These plane have a chip expulsion hole M to which adapter T
may be connected. A universal vacuum cleaner may be tted
or any dust extraction device.
PRECAUTION! During prolonged operations with wood
or in professional applications with materials that
produce harmful dust, a suitable external aspirator must
be connected.
ACCESSORIES
Accessories and their corresponding order number can be
found in our catalogues.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE
WARNING! Always unplug the machine before carrying
out work on it.
- Blade inspection: Excessive forward movement will
signicantly reduce machine power and blade life. Sharp
blades will permit a high cutting capability and increase
machine life. Blades should be replaced according to
requirements.
- Inspect the mounting screws: regularly inspect all the
mounting screws and ensure they are rmly tightened.
Should any screw be loose, tighten it immediately. Failure to
do so could put you at serious risk.
- Motor maintenance: always take the greatest care over
this and make sure that the motor winding is not damaged
and does not become wet with oil or water.
- The vents should always be kept clean and free of
obstacles.
- Clean the machine thoroughly after each use. Blast the
motor regularly with compressed air.
- Check that the mains lead is in good condition. If it is not,
take it to an Ofcial Service Centre to have it
