Operating Instructions for the FALLER Groove Cutter-
a special tool for mounting the FALLER Car System
The groove cutter is primarily intended for the problem-free laying of the special contact wires required for guiding the
FALLER Car System. Stops fitted to the cutter guarantee the required cutting width and depth at all times.
This tool permits both new roads for the FALLER Car System to be build and special contact wires to be integrated
into existing road installations. The slim-line construction of the tool permits the necessary work to be done also under
restricted space conditions and in narrow bends.
How to proceed?
1. First of all, mark the course of the car-guide wire on the road.
2. Now move the groove cutter along this line and cut the required groove.
In so doing, make sure that both stop wheels of the cutter rest on the work piece at all times, because the
dimensions required for the special wire will not be obtained, if the tool is held in an inclined position.
In the event of an inadvertent cut, this will be of no account whatsoever, as such defects can readily be
corrected when applying filler material to the road without extra expenditure at a later time.
3. After completion of the cutting operation, press the FALLER special contact wire Art. No. 161670
into the grooves with a screwdriver, filler knife or pointing trowel. Spot fixing with a drop of split-second
cement is possible here, but thanks to the exact fit, it is normally not required.
4. The wired grooves in the road are now filled with conventional filler compound or
FALLER Art. No. 180500 and levelled after drying.
5. Finally, apply the »road topping« with FALLER road paint, Art. No. 180506, with a roller, if possible.
This does not only produce an even colouring of the road, but - due to the pores of the foam roller -
also an asphalt-like, slightly roughed road surface.
The texture of the topping thus obtained guarantees the grip of the car tyres required for climbing and in bends.
6. Power supply
The cutter requires a 12 V DC supply. (FALLER transformer, Art. No. 180641)
Important:
See to it that the connection has the correct polarity, so that the sawblade can act on the
workpiece with its teeth in advance direction, and not vice versa.
The red marked cable must be connected to the positive pole (+) .
Technical data of groove cutter:
Motor speed: approx. 9,000 / min.
Sawblade speed: approx. 2,025 / min.
Reduction radio: 4.4 : 1
Voltage: 12 VDC
Maximum power input: 80 W
Weight: 178 g
Sawblade diameter: 20 mm
