4.2- ViaMichelin Navigation POI offers
Specific to ViaMichelin Navigation software, the POI offers are available for
easy downloading from the ViaMichelin e-store on www.shop.viamichelin.co.uk.
These allow you to add numerous pieces of information onto your PDA, useful
whether you are travelling on business or on holiday.
Once the POIs have been exported onto your PDA via your POI Manager, you can display them on
your map (Display on the map), navigate to them (Navigate to a POI), carry out accurate detailed-
searches (Search for a POI), save them in your Favourites, etc…
With a wide range available, the categories include:
- Tourist information from The Michelin Green Guide collection
- Service stations along your routes, sorted according to whether they are open 24 hours a day,
whether they are part of a chain (ie. Shell, Esso, BP…), etc.
- Car parks, such as those open 24 hours a day, covered car parks, free parking, etc.
- Garages which have a breakdown service
3.2- QuickInstall
QuickInstall allows you to quickly and easily install pre-defined maps (countries, regions, areas) onto
your PDA hard memory or onto a SD memory card. The QuickInstall program can be opened from
the menu: “Start / Programs / ViaMichelin / ViaMichelin Navigation / QuickInstall” or by clicking on
the QuickInstall icon in MapStore. Make sure that your PDA is connected to your PC as QuickInstall
will ask you to first synchronise your PDA in order to determine how much memory space is available
on your PDA. Once the synchronisation has been carried out, you can select the maps you want to
export, provided that the memory available is not exceeded.
After selecting the map areas to be transferred, click on the button to confirm your choice. Name
your map and follow the instructions on the screen to complete exporting the map onto your PDA.
3.3- POI Manager
POI Manager enables you to import Point of Interest (POI) databases into MapStore and
ViaMichelin Navigation. The files must be in *.asc or *.poi format.
Adding *.asc files
- Open the POI Manager program
- Click on the “Browse/Folder” button
- Select your *.asc file and click on “OK”
- Click “Next”
- Link your new database with an existing type of POI. You can create a POI type in advance in
MapStore which you can then assign to this new POI database

Adding *.poi files
- Open the POI Manager program
- Click on the “Browse/Folder” button
