Vehicle security
Refuelling:
Fuel filler neck at right rear side of
vehicle.
Open tank flap, unscrew fuel filler cap,
remove and suspend from tank flap. The
fuel tank has a limiting system which
prevents overfilling of the tank.
Heated rear window,
heated exterior mirrors
3:
Heating is only operational with the
ignition on.
On = Press Ü
Off = Press Ü again
Control indicator in button.
Depending on engine, rear window
heating automatically switches on
during diesel particle filter cleaning 3.
Refuelling (continued):
Before refuelling, switch off engine and
also shut off external heaters with
combustion chambers (identified by
stickers on fuel filler cap).
Switch off mobile phones.
To close, position fuel filler cap and
rotate past resistance until the ratchet
on the cap audibly engages. Close tank
flap and wipe off any overflowing fuel.
Petrol engines - use unleaded fuel only.
See Owner’s Manual for restrictions.
Diesel engines - use diesel fuel meeting
specifications of DIN EN 590.
Fuel tank capacity (all models) - 53 litres.
Bonnet:
To open the bonnet, pull the release
lever located below the instrument panel
on the driver’s side.
The bonnet will then be unlocked and
will partially open. Return release lever
to its original position.
Instruments and controls
In vehicles with electric windows in all
doors 3, the remote control can be used
to closed the windows.
The remote control has a range of
approx. 5 metres. This range can be
affected by outside influences. Aim the
remote control at the vehicle to operate.
Handle the radio remote control with
care, protect it from moisture and high
temperatures and avoid unnecessary
operation.
The hazard warning lights come on to
indicate that the remote control is
operational.
Key with retractable blade 3:
Press button to extend.
Press button to retract and audibly
engage key blade.
Easytronic 3:
N = Neutral / Start position
o = Centre position
(Drive position)
+ = Higher gear
- = Lower gear
A/M = Switch between
Automatic mode and
Manual mode
Only start in N, with foot brake applied.
Always move the selector lever all the
way to the stop. Note the gear or mode
indicator in the transmission display.
Easytronic 3; Reverse gear:
R = Reverse gear
(with selector lever lock)
To move selector lever from N to R,
first press the button on the lever.
Engage reverse gear only with vehicle
stationary.

Radio frequency remote control:
Depending on equipment level, the
vehicle comes equipped with one of the
remote controls depicted on this page.
The radio frequency remote control is
integrated in the key.
Used to operate:
Central locking system,
Mechanical anti-theft locking system 3,
Vauxhall alarm system 3.
Electronic Climate Control 3;
heated rear window,
heated exterior mirrors
3:
Heating is only operational with the
engine running and switches off
automatically after approx. 15 minutes.
On = Press Ü
Off = Press Ü again
Depending on engine, rear window
heating automatically switches on
during diesel particle filter cleaning 3.
Electronic Climate Control 3;
demisting and defrosting windows:
Press button V; V appears in the air
conditioning display.
The temperature, air distribution and
fan are set automatically. Windows are
quickly demisted and de-iced.
To return to automatic mode:
press button V or AUTO.
To open completely, locate release lever
behind the radiator grille just right of
centre - as viewed from the front.
Pull lever and raise bonnet.
Any dirt or snow on the bonnet can slide
down towards the windscreen when the
bonnet is opened and block the air
intake. See Owner’s Manual for further
information.
To hold the bonnet in the open position,
insert support rod located at right
angles above the radiator grille into the
small slot in the underside of the bonnet,
at its front edge.
Before closing bonnet, press support rod
firmly into its retainer. Lower the bonnet
gradually and then allow it to fall into
the lock under its own weight.
Check that the bonnet is locked in
position by pulling at its front edge. If it
is not engaged, repeat the procedure.
Luggage compartment:
To unlock:
Press button q on the remote control
and operate button beneath handle.
Manual transmission:
Reverse gear:
With vehicle stationary, three seconds
after declutching pull the ring up and
engage gear.
If the gear does not engage, set the lever
in neutral, release the clutch pedal and
depress again: then repeat gear
selection.
Engine oil:
Check the engine oil level every
300 miles or before embarking on a long
journey.
Important:
It is the owner’s responsibility to
maintain the correct level of an
appropriate quality oil in the engine.
