Longitudinal seat adjustment:
Pull handle, slide seat, release
handle.
Danger:
Do not sit nearer than 25 cm from
the steering wheel, to permit safe
airbag deployment.
Seat backrests:
Pull lever, adjust inclination and
release lever. Allow the backrest to
engage audibly.
Do not angle the backrest too far
back. We recommend a maximum
rake of approx. 25
o
.
Seat height:
Lever pumping motion:
up = seat higher
down = seat lower
Seat position:
Sit with buttocks as far back
against backrest as possible.
Adjust distance between seat and
pedals so that legs are slightly
angled when depressing pedals.
Head restraint adjustment:
Press the release button, adjust
height, then release button and
engage.
The upper edge of the head
restraint should be level with the
top of the head.
Steering wheel adjustment:
Unlock the lever, adjust the
steering wheel, then engage the
lever and ensure it is fully locked.
Adjust only when vehicle is
stationary and steering wheel lock
is released.
Interior mirror:
Swivel mirror housing.
Swivel lever on underside of the
mirror housing to reduce dazzle at
night.
In vehicles with automatic anti-
dazzle interior mirror, dazzle is
automatically reduced.
Exterior mirrors:
Select the relevant exterior mirror
by turning the control to left (L) or
right (R). Then swivel the control to
adjust the mirror.
Lighting:
Turn light switch:
0 Off
8 Sidelights
9 High or low beam
AUTO Automatic light control
Press light switch:
> = Front fog lights
r = Rear fog light
Turn thumb wheel:
q = Headlight range
adjustment
k = Instrument illumination
Automatic light control:
Turn light switch to AUTO position.
With the engine running, low beam
switches on automatically
depending on outside light
conditions.
For reasons of safety, the light
switch should always remain in the
AUTO position.
Do not cover light sensor on top of
the instrument panel to ensure
proper function of automatic light
control.
Daytime running lights:
Daytime running lights increase
visibility of the vehicle during
daylight.
The lights operate automatically
when the ignition is switched on.
Headlight flash, high beam and
low beam
Headlight flash = Pull lever
High beam = Push lever
Low beam = Pull lever
Headlight range adjustment:
With low beam 9 on, adapt
headlight range to suit vehicle load
and prevent dazzling of other road
users.
Turn thumb wheel
q to required
position.
0 = Front seats occupied
1 = All seats occupied
2 = All seats occupied and
load compartment laden
3 = Driver’s seat occupied and
load compartment laden
Turn and lane-change signals:
Lever up = Right turn signal
Lever down = Left turn signal
If the lever is moved past the
resistance point, the turn signal is
switched on constantly. When the
steering wheel is moved back, the
turn signal is automatically
deactivated.
For three flashes, e.g. when
changing lanes, press the lever until
resistance is felt and then release.
Move lever to resistance point and
hold for longer indication.
Switch the turn signal off manually
by moving the lever to its original
position.
Rear window wiper/washer:
Move the lever to activate the rear
window wiper.
push lever = wiper on
pull lever = wiper off
To activate rear window washer
system, press and hold button on
end of lever. Washer fluid is
sprayed onto rear window and the
wiper wipes a few times when the
button is released.
Do not use if the rear window is
frozen.
Switch off in car washes.
Hazard warning flashers:
Operated with button
¨ on the
instrument panel.
In the event of an accident where
the airbags are deployed, the
hazard warning flashers are
activated automatically.
Windscreen wiper:
O = Off
$ = Timed interval wipe
% = Slow
& = Fast
For a single wipe when the
windscreen wiper is off, press the
lever down.
Do not use if the windscreen is
frozen.
Switch off in car washes.
Heated rear window, heated
exterior mirrors:
The heating is operated by
pressing button
Ü.
Heating works with the engine
running and switches off
automatically after a short time.
Demisting and defrosting the
windows:
Air distribution to l.
Cooling
n and air recirculation 4
are switched on automatically to
improve defrosting efficiency.
Set temperature to highest level.
Set fan speed to highest level.
Switch on heated rear window
Ü.
Close centre air vents, open side air
vents and direct them towards the
door windows.
Power seat adjustment:
Move front switch forwards/
backwards to adjust seat position.
Move front and rear of front switch
to adjust height of seat cushion.
Move upper part of rear switch
forwards/backwards to adjust seat
backrest.
Seat belt:
Withdraw seat belt from retractor,
guide it untwisted across the body
and insert latch plate in belt buckle.
To release belt, press red button on
belt buckle.
Lumbar support:
Move lever forwards/backwards to
increase/decrease lumbar support.
Adjust lumbar support to suit
personal requirements.
Seat belt height adjustment:
Squeeze release buttons together
and slide adjuster up or down to
desired position.
Ensure sliding height adjuster is
latched into position.
Do not adjust height whilst driving.
Power windows:
With the ignition on, power
windows are operated via the
switches in the door.
Front switches operate the front
windows and rear switches operate
the rear windows.
Incremental operation:
Push switch briefly = To open
Pull switch briefly = To close
Automatic function:
Push or pull switch for longer.
Window moves up or down
automatically with safety function
enabled. To stop movement,
operate the switch once more in the
same direction
If the window glass encounters
resistance above the middle of the
window during automatic closing,
it is immediately stopped and
opened again.
Child safety system for rear power
windows:
Press switch
z to deactivate rear
door power windows. To reactivate,
press switch
z again.
With the child safety system on,
rear door power windows can only
be operated via the switches in the
driver’s door.
Folding in exterior mirrors:
Manually:
Apply slight pressure to outer edge
of mirror housing.
Electrically:
With key in ACC or ON position,
press n and both mirrors will fold
in. Press n again to fold mirrors
back to the driving position before
starting off.
For pedestrian safety, exterior
mirrors will swing out of their
normal mounting position if they
are struck with sufficient force.
Reposition mirrors before driving.
Windscreen and headlight
washer:
Pull lever. Washer fluid is sprayed
onto the windscreen and the wiper
wipes a few times.
If the headlights are on, washer
fluid is also sprayed onto the
headlights. The headlight washer
system can only be operated again
after a short delay.
In vehicles with rain sensor,
keep sensor area clean by
operating wash system regularly.
Front fog lights:
With ignition on and light switch set
to 8 or 9 , press switch
> to
activate front fog lights. Control
indicator
> illuminates in the
instrument cluster. Press switch
>
again to turn off.
Rear fog light:
With ignition on and light switch set
to 9 (or 8 with front fog lights
on), press switch
r to activate rear
fog light. Control indicator
r
illuminates in the instrument cluster.
Press switch
r again to turn off.
With light switch in AUTO position,
switching on front or rear fog lights
will switch on low beam and
sidelights automatically.
