An individual picture on TV screen is called as Frame,
which consists of two separate images called as Field.
Some pictures may be blurred at the “Auto” setting in still
mode due to their data characteristics.
Assign [VARIABLE SKIP] or [VARIABLE REPLAY] to
skip or rewind by a certain amount of time when they are
pressed.
Refer to the explanations below and set the selected item.
A: Variable Skip (Default: 30 seconds)

signal is output for viewing on an NTSC or Multi system

Set the screen saver time delay.
Set the front panel display brightness.
If “Auto” is selected, the brightness of the front panel
display is dark while the power is off.
If “OFF” is selected, you can lower the power
consumption while the power is off. The brightness of
the front panel display is dark while the power is on, and
the front panel display is off while the power is off.
Note
If you set “FL Dimmer” to “OFF”, output of the picture
from the external device through AV2 to AV1 (input of
the picture from AV2 and output of the picture from AV1)

G Still Mode (Default: Auto) (DVD only)
Auto : Automatically select the best resolution setting
(“Frame” or “Field”) based on the data
characteristics of the pictures.
Field : Select “Field” when the pictures are still
unstable even if “Auto” is selected. “Field”
stabilises the pictures, although the picture
quality may become coarse due to the limited
amount of data.
Frame : Select “Frame” to display relatively motionless
pictures in higher resolution. “Frame” improves
the picture quality, although it may unstabilise
the pictures due to simultaneous output of two
Field data.
H Variable Skip/Replay
I TV System (Default: PAL) (DVD only)
PAL : Outputs a modified PAL signal for viewing discs
recorded with the NTSC system on a PAL
system TV.
Auto : Changes the video system (PAL / NTSC)
automatically according to the format of the
inserted disc.
