Placement
Switching the kettle o while operational
Lift the power switch.
The kettle will switch o.
If the kettle overheats
The kettle will overheat if it boils dry due
to low water level.
The safety cutout will operate. Unplug the
kettle and leave it to cool for 15 minutes.
After this time, normal operation should
be restored.
Care and cleaning
Do not immerse any part of this appliance
in water or other liquid when cleaning
the appliance and never use any abrasive
cleaners or scourers.
Disconnect the kettle from mains
power and ensure it has cooled before
cleaning or descaling it.
Main body
Wipe the main body clean with a
slightly damp cloth.
Dry thoroughly before use.
De-scaling
In hard water areas furring or lime deposits
forming on the concealed element may
result in increased boiling time and aect
the kettle operation. If this deposit is
not removed it can cause damage to the
kettle. The scale can be removed by using
an appropriate descaler available from
Tesco and hardware stores or chemists.
Follow the instructions with the descaler.
After descaling boil the kettle several
times with fresh water before use. Do not
descale too often as this may shorten the
life of the element. Thoroughly clean the
exterior of your kettle to remove any traces
of descaler; failure to do so may damage it.
Cleaning the lter
A mesh lter is located inside the spout to
trap loose limescale particles. This should
be cleaned regularly if limescale collects
on the lter surface.
Locate the lter inside the kettle, in a
holder just behind the spout.
Operation
First use
Before using your kettle to make any
drinks you should ensure that it is
thoroughly cleaned.
Following the instructions in the next
sections, ll the kettle to the maximum
level with fresh water and boil the
water.
Discard the water and repeat the
process two more times.
Your kettle is now ready to use.
Filling the kettle
Pour away any water in the kettle.
Lift o the lid using the handle.
Fill the kettle through the top opening
with fresh, cold water to the level you
need on the water scale.
For safe operation, ensure that water is
always visible between the maximum (1.7L)
and minimum (0.75L) marks on the water
scale.
Never ll the kettle through the spout as you
may wash lime-scale back from the lter into
the kettle.
Press the kettle lid back into place.
Place the kettle on the power base.
Boiling the water
CAUTION: Never leave the appliance
unattended when it is operational or
containing hot water.
Connect the power cable to a
convenient outlet.
Press the power switch down.
The power switch will light and the kettle will
heat the water.
When the water boils the kettle will switch o
automatically.
Lift the kettle o the base and pour the
water out slowly to make your drinks.
To remove the lter, pull the tab upwards.
Using a clean, dampened toothbrush,
brush the inside surface of the mesh lter
gently to remove any limescale deposits.
Rinse the lter with warm water to wash
away any limescale deposits.
To re-t the lter, slide it into the holder,
then press it down to lock in place.
Feed the power
cable out through
the slot under the
power base so that
the base will sit at.
Place the power base securely on a
table or work-surface within easy reach
of a power outlet.
If the power cable
is too long, you
can wind a turn of
cable around the
clips under the
