* BMI = Body Mass Index = IMC = Indice de Masse Corporelle.
Le BMI traduit la corpulence d’une personne. Il est utilisé par l’Organisation
Mondiale de la Santé (OMS) pour évaluer les risques liés au surpoids ou à
l’anorexie en le rapprochant d’une échelle de référence.
Le BMI se calcule de la façon suivante :
poids en kilos / (taille en mètre x taille en mètre).
Par exemple, pour une personne pesant 62 kg et mesurant 1 mètre 60 :
62 / (1,6 x 1,6) = 24,2
Son BMI est de 24,2.
