Since body fat levels change slowly, over time, it is important to study your overall
trend, not just the individual readings. The graph function allows you to do this.
The graph function can store over 80 consecutive readings. When starting to use the
BF-572 it is recommended that you use the unit 45 times in succession (e.g. once a
day for 6 weeks) in order to store enough readings to show on the graph. Ideally,
you should store approximately 3 months’ readings, before studying the graph.
Explanation of the Graph
Value of the Columns (A-G)
Yellow section (A) shows the current reading.
Blue section (B) shows the average of the 7 most recent readings.
Blue section (C, D, E) each show the average of the 7 readings before
the last column.
Dark blue section (F, G) each represent the average of the preceding
28 readings before the last column.
Value of the Increments
The graph can display 3 different values for the bars of 0.2%, 0.5% and 1%.
See the diagrams below to interpret the values.
1. The bar value is 1% and the graph shows a downward trend. The user’s body fat
percentage has decreased significantly (in this case by 7% between column G and A).
2. The bar value is 0.5% and the graph shows a downward trend. The user’s body fat
percentage has decreased (in this case by 3.5%) which is less than point 1 above.
3. The bar value is 0.2% and the graph shows fluctuations. This individual’s body
fat percentage has remained consistent. The overall trend shows a change of only
0.2%, which can be due to fluctuations in individual readings.
4. The bar value is 0.5% and the graph has risen slightly. The users body fat
percentage has fluctuated over time, but shows an overall rise of 1%.
See the section ‘When to use TANITA Body Fat Monitor’ for information about
fluctuations in body fat percentage readings.
NB. When you come to use the unit, a bar will flash in the left hand column (G)
after you press your personal memory key. This bar indicates the number of stored
readings contained within the right-hand column (B). For example, the illustration
to the left shows that are three readings in this column.

Erasing the Stored Results
1. Press the button. The numbers (1, 2, 3, 4) will appear on the screen, with
an arrow in the bottom right-hand corner.
2. Press to select the Personal Memory Key, then press for 2 seconds.
3. All sections of the graph will be displayed, and then disappear one by one, erasing
all results for that Personal Memory Key (if you wish to stop this process, press
the ‘Weight-Only Key before all the graph sections disappear).
Not Storing Results
If you do not want to store your current reading press while the current reading
is displayed before the unit automatically turns off.
Reprogramming
To amend the data stored in the Personal Memory Keys:
For a Different User
Repeat steps 1 to 5 of ‘Storing Personal Data’. After entering the new data ‘Clear’
will appear on the screen. Press once more. The display will then flash all new
data to confirm programming, and then the unit will switch off.
For the Same Individual
(To change the height of a child, or user mode from child to adult etc.)
Repeat steps 1 to 5 of ‘Storing Personal Data’. The display will flash the new data,
and the unit will shut off automatically (the graph results will only be erased if the
user mode is changed from adult to child or if the gender is changed).
