Connection
The IR lamp is equipped with a connection cable with two connectors on
the end:
Round low-voltage socket: The external voltage/current supply is con-
nected to this socket. Make sure you use only a power supply unit with
a stabilised output voltage of 12 V/DC (direct current) (see also section
“Technical data” at the end of the operating instructions).
Round low-voltage connector: Connect this connector to your surveillance
camera. The surveillance camera must run with an operating voltage of
12 V/DC.
Pay attention to the correct polarity of the connectors. The inner
contact must be Plus/+, and the outer contact must be Minus/-.
If the surveillance camera and the IR lamp are operated via the
Y-cable with a single power supply, make sure that the output cur-
rent of the power supply is sufcient both for the surveillance cam-
era and the IR lamp.
If you install and use the IR lamp in outdoor areas, the two connec-
tors have to be placed in a location that is protected from humidity
(in dry indoor areas). Otherwise, the connectors will corrode.
If the round low-voltage is not required, protect it with a piece of
heat shrink tubing, so that no short-circuit may occur and the con-
nector is protected from dirt/moisture.
In the dark, the IR LEDs are activated automatically. The IR light is not vis-
ible to the human eye. Therefore, check the image on your monitor screen
to control the illumination of the IR lamp.
Due to the different switching thresholds for the light of the IR LEDs
on the IR lamp and your surveillance camera, the IR LEDs on the IR
lamp and your surveillance camera are not enabled and disabled at
the same time.
Example: The light from the IR LEDs on the surveillance camera are
activated at dusk by 20 o’clock, whereas the IR lamp is activated a
little later or earlier. This is normal.
So wait until it is completely dark before checking the function of the
IR lamp and correcting the alignment.
Please bear in mind that at night coloured image reproduction changes into
a black and white monochrome representation on the connected monitor
screen (when the IR LEDs of your surveillance camera are activated).
Cleaning
Occasionally, clean the IR lamp from dust and dirt, especially the front
screen. Use a clean and soft cloth, moistened with water. Do not rub too
strongly because otherwise scratches can occur on the screen.
Never point the jet of water from a garden hose or a high pressure cleaner
at the IR lamp; do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
Tips and notes
Both the surveillance camera and the IR lamp should always be installed
so that the equipment cannot be accessed without tools.
The same applies to the connection cable. Ideally, it should be laid in a
plastic or metal pipe.
Longer cable lengths cause deterioration in the video signal of the surveil-
lance camera. In this case, use a suitable amplier.
If the cable used to supply the power is too long, the voltage will drop, and
thus the operating voltage for the camera will no longer be sufcient. This
may lead to stripes in the image or to a loss of signal. If necessary, use a
cable with a larger cross-section to reduce the voltage drop.
Due to the Y-cable used on the IR lamp, the IR lamp can loop-in directly
between the surveillance camera and its voltage/power supply.
For this purpose, it is essential that the surveillance camera operates with
an operating voltage of 12 V/DC. The polarity of the connectors/sockets
must be as follows:
Outer contact = minus /-
Inner contact = plus/+
Observe the operating instructions of the surveillance camera or its volt-
age/power without fail.
The IR lamp requires a current of about 310mA. If the IR lamp is operated
through the power supply of your surveillance camera, it must be sized
accordingly so that it can power up both devices (surveillance camera and
IR lamp).
Disposal
The product must not be disposed of in the household waste.
Dispose of the product at the end of its serviceable life in accord-
ance with the current statutory requirements; e.g., return it to any
suitable collection point.
