Pulmonaire zuurstofvergiftiging

Een vorm van zuurstofvergiftiging die veroorzaakt

wordt door langdurige blootstelling aan hoge partiële

zuurstofdrukken. Veel voorkomende symptomen zijn

een irritatie van de longen, een brandend gevoel in

de longen, hoesten en een verminderde vitale capa-

citeit van de longen. Zie OTU.

Reststikstof Alle stikstof in het lichaam van een duiker dat een

normaal niveau te boven gaat.

Een modern calculatiemodel waarmee zowel de sta-

tus van opgelost als vrij stikstof in het lichaam wordt

berekend.

Stijgsnelheid De snelheid waarmee de duiker zich vertikaal rich-

ting de oppervlakte begeeft.

SURF TIME Lengte van de oppervlakte-interval.

Weefselgroep Een theoretisch concept gebaseerd op de theorie

dat verschillende soorten lichaamsweefsel verschil-

lende halfwaardetijden hebben. Wordt als uitgangs-

punt gebruikt om decompressieprocedures en -ta-

bellen op te stellen.

Zuurstofvergiftiging van het centrale zenuwstelsel

Veroorzaakt een aantal neurologische symptomen,

waarvan de belangrijkste een op epilepsie lijkende

aanval is waardoor de duiker kan verdrinken.
