Pr ecautions
On safe ty
ˎComplet ely disconnect the power c ord (mains
lead) from the w all outlet (mains) if it is not
going to be used for an e xtended period of time .
When unplugging the unit, always grip the plug.
Never pull the cor d itself.
ˎShould an
y solid object or liquid get into the
system, unplug the system, and have it checke d
by qualified personnel befor e opera ting it again.
ˎThe power cor d can be changed only by a
qualified service facility .
On placement
ˎDo not place the syst em in an inclined position
or in locations that ar e extremely hot, cold, dusty ,
dirty , or humid or lacking adequa te ventilation,
or subject to vibr ation, direct sunlight or a bright
light.
ˎBe c
areful when placing the system on surf aces
that have been specially tr eated (f or example,
with wax, oil, polish) as staining or discolor ation
of the surface may r esult.
ˎC
ondensation may form on outer surf aces or
internally , and cause the system t o malfunction
if the system is suddenly moved fr om a cold to a
warm envir onment. If condensation forms, turn
off the system, and leave the system off until
the moisture ev aporat es. Do not use the system
until the condensation has fully ev apora ted.
On heat buildup
ˎHeat buildup on the unit during oper ation is
normal and is not cause f or alarm.
ˎDo not touch the c abinet if it has been used
continuously at a high volume bec ause the
cabinet may have bec ome hot.
ˎDo no
t obstruct the ventilation holes.
On the speak er system
The built-in speak er system is not magnetically
shielded, and the picture on nearby TV sets may
become magne tically distorted. In this situation,
turn off the TV , w ait 15 to 30 minutes, and turn it
back on.
If there is no impr ovement, move the system far
away fr om the TV .
Cleaning the cabine t
Clean this system with a soft cloth slightly
moistened with a mild det ergent solution. Do not
use any type of abr asive pads, scouring powder ,
or solvents, such as thinner, benzine, or alcohol.
BLUET OO TH wir eless
technology
BLUET OOTH wir eless technology is a short -range
wireles s technology linking digital devices, such
as personal computers and digit al still camer as.
Using the BLUET OOTH wir eless technology , you
can oper ate the units involved within a r ange of
about 10 meters.
The BLUET OOTH wir eless technology is c ommonly
used between two devic es, but a single device
can be conne cted to multiple devic es.
Y ou do not need wires to ge t connected as you
do with a USB connection, and you do not need
to place the devic es fac e to fac e as you do with
wireles s infrar ed technology . Y ou can use the
technology with one BLUET OOTH devic e in your
bag or pocket.
BLUET OOTH wir eless technology is a global
standard supporte d by thousands of companies.
These companies pr oduce pr oducts that meet the
global standard.
Supported BLUET OOTH version and
pr ofiles
Pr ofile refers t o a standard se t of capabilities for
various BLUET OOTH pr oduct capabilities. See
“Specifications” for details on the supported
BLUET OOTH version and pr ofiles.
Notes
ˎT o use a BLUET OOTH device c onnected to this system,
the device must support the same profile as this syst em.
Note that the functions of the BL UETOO TH device may be
different depending on the specific ations of the device ,
even if it has the same profile as this system.
ˎBecause of the properties of BLUET OO TH wireless
technology , playback on this syst em is slightly delayed
compar ed with audio playback on the transmitting devic e.
Effective c ommunication r ange
BLUET OOTH devic es should be used within
appro ximately 10 met ers (unobstructed distanc e)
of each other . The effective communic ation
range may be come shorter under the following
conditions.
When a person,
metal object, wall or other
obstruction is between the devic es with a
BLUET OOTH c onnection
Locations wher e a wireless LAN is installe d
Ar
ound microw ave ovens that are in use
Locations wher e other electromagne tic waves
occur
Effects of o ther devices
BLUET OOTH devic es and wireless LAN (IEEE
802. 11b/g) use the same frequency band (2.4
GHz). When using your BLUETOO TH device
near a device with wir eless LAN capability ,
electromagne tic interferenc e may occur . This
could r esult in lower data tr ansfer r ates, noise,
or inability to conne ct. If this happens, tr y the
following r emedies:
T
ry connecting this system and BLUET OOTH
mobile phone or BLUET OOTH devic e when you
are at least 10 me ters away fr om the wireles s
LAN equipment.
T
urn off the power to the wireles s LAN
equipment when using your BLUET OOTH
device within 10 met ers.
Effects on o ther devices
The radio w aves broadc ast by this system may
interfer e with the operation of some me dical
devices. Since this interfer ence may r esult in
malfunction, always turn off the power on
this system, BLUET OO TH mobile phone and
BLUET OOTH devic e in the following locations:
In hospit
als, on trains, and in airplanes
Near automatic doors or fire alarms
Notes
ˎThis system supports security functions that comply with
the BLUET OO TH specification as a means of ensuring
security during communica tion using BLUET OOTH
technology . However , this security may be insufficient
depending on the setting cont ents and other factors, so
always be car eful when performing communication using
BLUET OO TH technology .
ˎSony cannot be held liable in any way for damages or o ther
loss resulting fr om information leaks during c ommunication
using BLUET OO TH technology .
ˎBLUETOO TH communication is not nec essarily guarant eed
with all BLUET OO TH devices that have the same pr ofile as
this system.
ˎBLUETOO TH devices connected with this system must
comply with the BLUET OOTH specification pr escribed
by the BLUET OO TH SIG, Inc., and must be certified to
comply . However , even when a device complies with the
BLUET OO TH specification, there may be cases where the
charact eristics or specifications of the BLUET OOTH device
make it impossible t o connect, or may result in different
contr ol methods, display or opera tion.
ˎNoise may occur or the audio may cut off depending on
the BLUET OO TH device connect ed with this system, the
communica tions environment, or surrounding conditions.
T urning on or off the BLUET OO TH signal
Y ou can connect to the system fr om a paired
BLUET OOTH devic e in all functions when the
system’ s BLUET OOTH signal is set t o on. The
BLUET OOTH signal is turned on by default.
Use the buttons on the panel to perform this
opera tion.
Hold down
and BLUET OOTH
on the unit
for about 3sec onds.
“BT ON” or “BT OFF” appears on the display .
Notes
ˎY ou cannot perform the f ollowing operations when
BLUET OO TH signal is set to off:
— Pairing with BL UETOO TH device
— Erasing the pairing information
— Using “ App Remote ” via BLUET OO TH
— Setting the BLUET OO TH Standby mode to “ON”
— Changing BT AAC ON/OFF setting
ˎWhen the BLUETOO TH signal is set to off, this system
cannot be det ected and connection c annot be established
from BLUET OOTH device .
ˎIf you touch the N-Mark on the panel with an NFC-
compatible smartphone, the BLUETOO TH signal will be set
to on automatic ally .
ˎWhen the power is turned off with the
button,
the BLUET OO TH ON/OFF setting is ret ained. When the
power cor d is disconnected and then r econnecte d, the
BLUET OO TH setting will be set to on.
