INTRODUCTION
This tool is intended to route slots for biscuit connections
in wood and similar materials
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1
SAFETY
GENERAL
Read and save this instruction manual (pay special
attention to the safety instructions at the back)
Only use tool with base completely assembled
This tool should not be used by people under the age of
16 years
Always disconnect plug from power source before
making any adjustment or changing any accessory
ACCESSORIES
SKIL can assure flawless functioning of the tool only
when original accessories are used
Before using accessories always compare the maximum
allowed r.p.m. of that specific accessory with the r.p.m.
of the tool
Do not use damaged, deformed or vibrating routing blades
Only use sharp blades
Protect accessories from impact, shock and grease
Do not use a routing blade that is larger than the
maximum recommended size
Only use routing blades with a hole diameter of 22 mm
BEFORE USE
Avoid damage that can be caused by screws, nails and
other elements in your workpiece; remove them before
you start working
Always check that the supply voltage is the same as the
voltage indicated on the nameplate of the tool (tools with
a rating of 230V or 240V can also be connected to a
220V supply)
Always check the proper functioning of the guard
retraction mechanism by first pulling backwards base
assembly R 2 and then releasing it, after which the
base assembly should return to its original position
Do not work with materials containing asbestos
Clamp the workpiece in case it does not remain
stationary from its own weight
Do not clamp the tool in a vice
Use completely unrolled and safe extension cords with a
capacity of 16 Amps (UK 13 Amps)
The noise level when working can exceed 85 dB(A);
wear ear protection
Wear a dust protection mask when working with materials
which produce dust that is detrimental to health; inform
yourself beforehand about the materials to be worked on
Be sure tool is switched off when plugging in
DURING USE
Always keep the cord away from moving parts of the
tool; direct the cord to the rear, away from the tool
Never use tool when cord or base assembly R 2
(=protective guard) is damaged; have it replaced by a
qualified person
Keep hands away from rotating accessories
In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction,
immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug
In case the routing blade is blocked, resulting in jerking
forces on the tool, immediately switch off the tool
In case of current interruption or when the plug is
accidentally pulled out, unlock the on/off switch
immediately and put it in the OFF-position in order to
prevent uncontrolled restarting
Do not apply so much pressure on the tool that it comes
to a standstill
AFTER USE
After switching off the tool, never stop the rotation of the
accessory by a lateral force applied against it
WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):
Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire
in the cord of this tool to the earth terminal of the plug
If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of this
tool, it must be disposed of safely and not left unattended
USE
On/off locking switch
- switch on tool by pushing switch A 2 forward
! be aware of the sudden impact when the tool is
switched on
! before the blade reaches the workpiece, the tool
should run at full speed
- lock switch by pushing down front end of switch
- unlock switch/switch off tool by pushing down back
end of switch
! before switching off the tool, you should pull it
back from the workpiece
Dust suction 3
- empty dust bag regularly for optimal dust pick-up
performance
- for using vacuum cleaner pull off dust bag C from
vacuum cleaner adapter D and mount vacuum cleaner
Front fence 4
- for keeping constant height when making joints
- for proper guidance when cutting
- suitable for 0°/45°/90° joints
- front fence E can be adjusted for setting height with
hex key F 2 (line of cut indicator G can be used as
reference)
Adjusting cutting depth 5
Your tool is equipped with a wheel allowing you to adjust
the cutting depth for the plate size you wish to use (type
0, 10 or 20)
- pull and turn wheel H to select required plate size
- place tool with front fence against wall or piece of wood
- push tool forward until it stops and hold it in that position
- ensure that indicator J lines up slightly past selected
size mark on scale; if not, use adjusting knob K
Holding and guiding the tool
! always use top handle B 2 for safe control and
ease of operation
- keep the ventilation slots L 2 uncovered
Standard joint 6
- mark center of slot (at least 50 mm from outer edge of
board)
- in case of 2 or more slots allow at least 25 mm in
between
- for proper alignment mark all slots on both boards at
the same time
