Important: All bare parts are greased in order to pro-
tect them from corrosion. Before mounting the drill
chuck (12) onto the spindle, both parts must be com-
pletely degreased using an environmentally friendly
solvent. This ensures optimal transmission of power.
Installing the machine
Before you use the drill for the rst time it must be
mounted in a stationary position on a rm surface.
Use both mounting holes in the base plate to do this.
Ensure that the machine is freely accessible for op-
eration, adjustment and maintenance.
Important: The xing screws may only be tightened
to a point where they do not distort or deform the
base plate. Excessive tension can lead to fracture.
Prior to starting
Ensure that the voltage of the mains supply complies
with the specications on the rating plate. Connect
the machine only to a socket with the properly in-
stalled earthing contact. The table drill is equipped
with a no-volt trip that is designed to protect the
operator from an undesired restart following a drop
in voltage. Should this occur, the machine must be
manually restarted.
9. Operation
General (Fig.14)
To switch on the machine, push in the green On but-
ton “I” (9); the machine starts up. To switch off , press
the red Off button “O” (9); the device shuts down.
Ensure that you do not overload the device.
If the sound of the motor drops in pitch during opera-
tion, it is being overloaded.
Do not overload the device to the point where the mo-
tor comes to a standstill. Always stand in front of the
machine during operation.
Inserting the tool (Fig. 1)
Make sure that the power plug is removed from the
socket-outlet before changing tools. Only cylindrical
tools with the stipulated maximum shaft diameter may
be clamped in the scroll chuck (12). Only use a tool that
is sharp and free of defects. Do not use tools whose
shaft is damaged or which are deformed or awed in
any other way. Use only accessories and attachments
that are specied in the operating instructions or have
been approved by the manufacturer. If the pillar drill
should become jammed, switch off the machine and
return the drill to its starting position.
Handling the keyless chuck
Your pillar drill is equipped with a keyless chuck. This
enables tools to be changed without the need for an
additional chuck key. To do so, insert the tool in the
quick-change drill chuck and tighten by hand.
6. Place the hand crank (16) on the shaft of the drill-
ing table holder (4) and secure it with the Allen
screw. To do this, use the Allen key (B)
7. Screw one of the clamping handles (3) into the
drilling table holder (4).
Installing the machine head and column, Fig. 8
1. Place the machine head (13) on the column (2).
2. Align the drill’s spindle with the table and the
base plate and tighten the Allen screw that is lo-
cated on the side of the machine head. (Allen key
SW4 / A)
Installing the handles, Fig. 9+10
1. Screw three handles (10) tight in the handle brack-
ets thread. Use the hexagon spanner to do this.
2. Screw the remaining handle (6) into the handle
bracket for speed adjustment. Use the hexagon
spanner to do this.
Installing the folding swarf protector and the drill
chuck, Fig.11
1. Push the folding swarf protector (11) onto the spin-
dle on the machine head and use a Phillips head
screwdriver to secure it.
Installing the chuck (g. 12)
1. Clean the conical hole in the drill chuck and the
spindle cone with a clean piece of cloth. Make sure
that no dirt particles stick to the surface. The slight-
est contamination on one of the surfaces prevents
the drill chuck from holding properly. This may
cause the drill to hit. If the tapered hole in the drill
chuck is extremely dirty, use a detergent on a clean
piece of cloth.
2. Push the drill chuck onto the spindle nose as far
as possible.
3. Turn the outer ring of the chuck counter-clockwise
(from the top view) and open the jaws of the chuck.
4. Place a piece of wood on the machine table and
lower the spindle down to the piece of wood.
Press rmly so that the feed ts strongly.
Insert/change battery: using the laser (g. 13)
1. Insert/change battery: Switch off laser. Insert or
remove the battery compartment cover (14.1). Re-
move batteries and replace with new (2 AA bat-
teries).
2. To switch on: Move the ON/OFF switch (14) to
the “I” position to switch on the laser. Two laser
lines are projected on the workpiece and intersect
at the center of the drill tip contact point.
3. To switch off: Move the ON/OFF switch (14) to
the “0” position.
Installing the laser (g. 13)
The laser can be adjusted using the adjusting screws
(F).
