21. Ensure that the riving knife is adjusted so that:
A. The distance between the riving knife and the
toothed rim of the saw blade is not more than 5 mm.
B. The toothed rim does not extend more than 5 mm
beyond the lower edge of the riving knife.
22. The riving knife should always be used except when
making a plunging cut in the middle of a workpiece.
23. AVOID CUTTING WORKPIECES WITH NAILS.
Inspect for and remove any nails from the lumber
before cutting.
24. ACCESSORIES: The use of accessories or
attachments other than those recommended in this
manual might present a hazard.
25. REPLACEMENT PARTS: When servicing, use only
identical replacement parts.
26. Do not stop the blade by lateral pressure on the disc.
27. Ensure that the saw blade is suitable for the spindle
speed.
28. Ensure that the diameter, thickness and other
characteristics of the saw blade are suitable for the tool.
29. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas and
workbenches invite accidents.
30. Consider work area environment. Do not expose
power tools to rain.
Do not use power tools in damp or wet locations.
Keep work area well lit. Do not use power tools in
places where there is a risk of fire or electric shock.
31. Guard against electric shock. Avoid body contact with
earthed or grounded surfaces (e.g. pipes, radiators,
cookers, refrigerators).
32. Keep children away. Do not let visitors touch the tool
or extension cord. All visitors should be kept away
from the work area.
33. Store idle tools. When not in use, tools should be
stored in a dry, high or locked-up place, out of
children's reach.
34. Do not force the tool. It will do the job better and
safer when used at the rate for which it was intended.
35. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery, they can get caught in moving parts. Rubber
gloves and non-skid footwear are recommended
when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering
to contain long hair.
36. Use safety glasses. Always use a face or dust mask
if the cutting operation is dusty.
37. Connect dust extraction equipment. If your saw
comes with a dust extractor/collector, ensure it is
properly connected and used.
38. Do not abuse the cord. Never carry the tool by the
cord or yank it to disconnect the saw from the power
socket. Keep the cord away from sources of heat,
oil and sharp edges.
39. Secure the workpiece. Use clamps or a vice to hold
the workpiece. It is safer than using your hand and
it frees both hands to operate the tool.
40. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
41. Remove adjusting keys and spanners. Get into the
habit of checking to see that all keys and adjusting
spanners have been removed from the tool before
turning it on.
42. Avoid unintentional starting. Do not carry a cordless
tool with a finger on the trigger switch. Ensure the
switch is off when plugging in your saw.
43. Use outdoor extension leads. When the tool is used
outdoors, use only extension cords intended for
outdoor use.
