Maintaining your espresso coffee-maker
Clean the outside of the appliance with a wet sponge. Regularly wash the tank, drip collec-
tor, drip collector grid and filter-holder. Use a coin to disassemble the steam nozzle fitting.
Rinse with clean water. If necessary, clean the hole with a needle.
Check that the appliance is cold and unplug from the mains before any cleaning operation.
Do not use alcohol or solvent based cleaning products.
Do not immerse the appliance in water.
Do not put any part of the appliance in the dishwasher.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
To clean the filter-holder, take the lower part of the filter-holder bet-
ween your thumb and index finger. Press using your thumb and
open the compartment. Rinse the assembly in clean water activa-
ting the ejection button if necessary. Push back the compartment.
Scale removal
Regularly remove scale from your expresso machine. De-scaling frequency will of course
depend on the number of expressos you make but also on the hardness of the water you
use. It is best to remove scale once a month, or more often if your water has a high lime
content. No repair resulting from scaling will be covered under the guarantee.
To remove scale from your appliance: use pure spirit vinegar (never use wine vinegar) or a
“special coffee-maker” food standard scale remover as available in the shops and diluted
according to the instructions.
Pour about 1/2 litre of pure spirit vinegar into the tank. Place a container/cup with high
enough capacity under the filter-holder. Run the appliance as when making an expresso,
without ground coffee in the filter-holder, for about 1 to 2 minutes. Also run the appliance
in steam function for 1 to 2 minutes. Wait for about 10 minutes in the pre-heating position
then repeat the operation.
To rinse your appliance: rinse then fill the tank with clean water. Then run your appliance as
for scale removal. Repeat the operation 2 or 3 times for a perfect rinse.
