Der schwere Kreuzer Blücher lief am 8.6.1937 in Kiel vom Stapel

und wurde am 20.9.1939 als Typschiff der Admiral-Hipper-

Klasse in Dienst gestellt. Die maximale Wasserverdrängung

betrug 18.700 Tonnen, bei einer Länge von 202,8 Meter. Es

befanden sich ca. 1.380 Besatzungsmitglieder an Bord. Nach

einer kurzen Erprobungsphase kenterte die Blücher bereits bei

ihrem ersten Einsatz während der Invasion Norwegens, als sie

am 9.4.1940 im Oslo-Fjord erst durch zahlreiche Granatein -

schläge außer Betrieb gesetzt und anschließend von 2 Torpe -

dos getroffen wurde.

The heavy cruiser Blücher was launched in Kiel on 8.6.1937 and

went into service on 20.9.1939 as the type ship of the Admiral

Hipper Class. With a maximum displacement of 18,700 tons

and a length of 202.8 m, she carried a crew of approx. 1,380.

After a brief trial period the Blücher capsized on her first mis-

sion during the invasion of Norway, when on 9.4.1940 in the

Oslo Fjord she was disabled by numerous shells and then hit by

2 torpedos.
