Ferrari SA Aperta Ferrari SA Aperta
So ver-
The exclusive open-topped (= Aperta) super sports car made its debut
at the Paris Motor Show in 2010. To celebrate the 80th birthday of the
designer Pininfarina, who had designed numerous bodies for Ferrari,
the car was made in a limited edition of 80. This sprightly two-seater
was already sold out during production. The abbreviation SA stands
for the initials of the names of Sergio Pininfarina and his son Andrea
who had founded the Pininfarina company in 1930 and run it for years.
The V 12 engine offers a stunning power of 670 hp. Visually, this racy
super sports car has a striking body shape. The A posts stand out in a
contrasting colour as do the two similarly painted fins which seam-
lessly merge into the roll bar and subtly echo the contours of the seat
backs. The SA Aperta offers a conspicuously long bonnet, seats set far
back and a really short sharp rear. However, some differences from a
Berlinetta are immediately evident. This strictly limited two-seater has
no hard roof, but a close-fitting soft top. The SA Aperta also has air
vents on the mudguards and bonnet, which remove heat from the
engine and brakes, but they differ in shape and size from those of the
other Ferrari with a 12 cylinder front engine also shown in 2010, the
599 GTO. The diffuser also, which due to the lack of roof requires a
reinforced chassis and parts of the body are of a different shape. The
SA Aperta offers an exceptional engine, transmission and chassis man-
agement system. According to the setting of the driving dynamics on
the control this open-topped two-seater is as well suited to the road
as it is to the race track. As usual the interior offers an inimitable bal-
ance between sporty design and appealing comfort.
With its 5,999 cc capacity the 12 cylinder engine of the SA Aperta deliv-
ers 670 hp with a maximum torque of 620 Nm. Due to the reinforced
chassis the kerb weight of the two-seater is over 1500 kg, but it shoots
from 0 to 100 in just 3.6 seconds without sacrificing maximum safety,
so that even an inexperienced driver can attempt this sprint. The top
speed of the SA Aperta is a phenomenal 325 km/h.
