DiSEqC
Digitale Satelliet Equipment Control
EPG (Electronic Program Guide)
Electronische programma gids. Hiermee kunt u gemakkelijk door de vele aangeboden
kanalen en services navigeren en het gewenste kanaal of de gewenste service
selecteren.
FEC
Forward Error Correction. Correctie van ontbrekende bits in het ontvangen signaal.
LNB (Low-Noise Block converter)
De LNB is een electronisch onderdeel dat gemonteerd wordt op de satelliet schotel.
Het ontvangt de signalen, welke gereflecteerd worden door de schotel en converteert
deze in signalen, welke gebruikt kunnen worden door de satelliet ontvanger.
Parental control (kinderslot)
Hiermee kunnen ouders bepaalde kanalen of services, waarvan zij vinden dat deze
ongeschikt zijn voor hun kinderen, achter een pincode verbergen. Dit kanaal of deze
service kan dan alleen bekeken worden door de pincode in te voeren.
Pin code
Persoonlijk Identificatie Nummer. Dit is een 4-cijferig code dat gebruikt wordt voor
bijvoorbeeld het kinderslot, zoals hierboven beschreven.
Polarisatie
Polarisatie staat toe dat verschillende programma’s in dezelfde frequentie band
passen. De signalen afkomstig van de satelliet worden of met lineaire (verticaal of
horizontaal) polarisatie of met circulaire (rechts of links) polarisatie uitgezonden.
RS 232
Dit is een seriële communicatie standaard data poort.
Schotelantenne
Dit is een schotelvormige antenne, welke bedoeld is om signalen te ontvangen van
een satelliet. De schotel vangt de signalen voor doorgifte aan de LNB.
SCART
Dit is een 21 pin connector, welke gebruikt wordt voor het aansluiten van de satelliet
ontvanger aan de TV en de VCR.
Gecodeerde Satelliet TV programma’s
Sommige satelliet TV programma’s worden gecodeerd uitgezonden. Een smartcard, en
mogelijk ook een Common Interface Module, zijn dan nodig om deze programma’s te
bekijken.
