9. Keep hands away from the chip discharge
channel. If the channel is blocked, first the electric
tool must be switched off and allowed to come to a
complete standstill. After that, the chips may be
removed.
10. Secure work in a safe position with enough support
for a workpiece and the electric tool.
11. Whenever possible, the electric tool should be
connected to the mains via a fault current circuit
breaker (Fl) or a PRCD safety device.
12. This electric tool is not intended for stationary use.
13. The dust originating from planing wood is
hazardous to health. Connect the dust extraction
adapter and wear a dust mask when working with
the electric planer.
14. Turn or exchange blunt knives in good time, the
risk of kickback is otherwise increased.
15. After planing is finished, only put the planer aside
after the cutting head has come to a complete
standstill.
16. Damaged power supply cords must be replaced
immediately by a specialist.
17. Unauthorized use of this product anyway may lead
to a personal injury.
18. Repairs shall be carried out by the qualified
personnel only.
19. Use only the original spare parts.
20. Use safety glasses and ear protection.
21. Use only the original cutting heads identical to the
one supplied with the electric tool.
Even when the electric tool is used properly and all the
relevant safety measures are followed, the following
remaining risks can still occur due to the design of the
electric tool required for the intended working
operations:
- contact with the cutting blades during rundown;
- clothing can be caught by the rotating parts;
- hazards invited by the flexible supply cord;
- hazards invited by the harmful dust when using the
planer for a long time without a dust extractor.
- Check if the data on the nameplate correspond with
the actual voltage of the power supply. The electric
tools with rated voltage 230 V may be also
connected to 220 V. Fusing for 230 V: 16 A slow-
action fuse or equivalent automatic circuit breaker.
- The planer is equipped with the overload protector
which prevents damage to the motor from excessive
overloading. If the motor has been stopped by the
overload protector, it should be allowed to cool down
for at least 5 minutes before starting again.
Continued overloading has to be avoided.
- Use only extension cords with a cross section of
3 x 1,5 mm , max. 20 m length (3 x 2,5 mm ,
max. 50 m). When the electric tool is used outdoors,
use only extension cords intended for outdoor use
and so marked.
- There must be no metal particles on the surface of
the workpiece to be planed. For secure guidance,
the planer is equipped with three handles. Planing
depth is adjustable by means of the swiveling front
handle (5) and the value of adjusted planing depth
may be read on the scale (6) on the side wall of the
planer.
- Attach the supplied chip deflector (12) in front of the
planer on the chip discharge channel (11) and fasten
it with the two star-shaped fixing knobs (13).
- For normal applications, planing depth
of 2 to 2,5 mm is preferable to be adjusted.
- When working with the planer, place the front
adjustable shoe (7) onto the workpiece and switch
the motor on, using the switch (2) with the lock-off
button (4) depressed simultaneously. As soon as the
cutting head comes in contact with the workpiece,
guide the planer with constant feed speed, applying
light pressure.
- When operating with maximum planing depth of
3 mm for longer periods, the overload protection (4)
may be readily activated from motor overload. In
such case allow the motor to cool down and then
push the reset button of the overload protection.
When intense chip generation is anticipated, there is
advisable to work without the chip deflector (12)
attached.
- In closed rooms, this electric tool may only be
operated with a dust extraction device connected.
22
When the maximum planing width of 300 mm is to be
utilized, there is possible to use the included guide
roller (9) which rests on the base plate right to the
switch; if required, the guide roller may pulled off with a
light jerk and inserted into the bore on the left side of
the base plate of the planer. When the job is finished,
pull the roller from its operating position and put it back
to the fixture on the base plate.
The cutting head (15) is fitted with the pair of special
reversible blades (16) which cannot be resharpened but
may be reversed once. Blunt blades reduce quality of
the work and increase the risk of kickback. Therefore
they must be turned or replaced in good time.
Note:
Switch-on procedures cause temporay drops in voltage.
These can affect other tools with unfavourable mains
conditions. No interferences need be feared at mains
impedaces below 0,34 ohms.
