CARE AND CLEANING
Defrosting your freezer
The formation of frost inside your freezer cannot be avoided. Fr ost forms when the humidity contained
in the air comes in contact with the cold surfaces of the freezer. This is why the door should only be
opened when necessary. A thin layer of frost does not harm the operation of the freezer and can be
removed with a plastic or wooden scraper.
When the layer of frost gets to a thickness of about ten millimetres, complete defrosting is necessary.
We recommend doing this when the freezer is not very full.
Before defrosting, if the freezer is not empty, press the rapid freeze button to ensure the food is
kept at a very low temperature.
Unplug the freezer
Take out the frozen food and keep them in a cool place wrapped in several sheets of newspaper
or better still in cool bags or bubble plastic check the frozen food regular ly to ensure it has not
defrosted. If is has defrosted it must be either eaten or cooked immediately and then refrozen.
Leave the door open.
You can use the spout supplied to help you empty the defrosting water into a bowl.
You can speed up defrosting by getting rid of the some of the frost with a plastic or
wooden scraper and putting containers full of hot water (max 60°) inside.
Do not use any sharp objects to scrape off the ice or heated electrical appliances (hair dryers,
heaters). The freezer might be irreparably damaged.
After melting the ice, carefully wipe and dry the freezer.
Plug it back in press the rapid freeze button and wait for an hour or two before refilling the
freezer.
CLEANING
Before cleaning, unplug the freezer from the mains supply.
Never use abrasive products or scouring pads to clean the inside or outside of your freezer.
Remove all accessories. Wash them in warm water with a gentle scentless detergent (product for
washing up for example), rinse with clean water and dry carefully.
Wash the inner walls in the same way; pay particular attention to the shelf supports
Wash the door seal, not forgetting to also clean under the seal.
Plug the freezer back into the mains supply.
Clean the freezer whenever you defrost it.
From time to time, dust the condenser at the back of the freezer; as an accumulation of dust might
reduce the performance of the freezer.
In the case of prolonged absence, empty and clean the freezer; keep the door open while it is not
being used.
