steam) for the backstroke, so reclosing the fi-
bres, preventing oversteaming and wetness.
3b. In order to have a continuous steam jet,
move the button (10a) forwards. Steam will
keep on coming out, even releasing the but-
ton. To interrupt the outlet, move the button
(10a) backwards (fig.4).
4b. By turning the steam flow control knob (6)
you can vary the amount of steam according
to the type of textile to be ironed (more or
less delicate). You can use this control to in-
crease the steam flow by turning in anti-
clockwise direction. Turning the control in a
clockwise direction reduces the steam flow
(fig.5).
5b.The appliance is equipped with a rigid iron
rest mat (11) (fig.6) which can be removed
and put elsewhere if required.
NOTE:
• The steam pressure indicator (5) may go on
and off from time to time during use of Va-
porella. This means the machine maintains
the correct and constant pressure and is
quite normal.
• If no steam is released from the iron, check:
the steam pressure indicator (5) is OFF;
there is water in the boiler and the steam reg-
ulation knob (6) is set to one of the “Steam”
settings.

USE
The Polti teflon underplate makes it possible to
iron fabrics that usually tend to become shiny
when ironed. The underplate can also be used
with all other fabrics.
ASSEMBLING
ATTENTION: assemble the underplate only
when the iron is cold. Make sure that the spring
is in external position as in fig. 7 and fit the un-
derplate making the points match correctly (fig.
8). Pull the spring towards the back of the iron
until it reaches the entry point for the cable, as
shown in fig. 9.

This appliance is equipped with the unique Polti
patented safety cap, which prevents opening of
the generator tank as long as there is any pres-
sure remaining inside the tank. This is an impor-
tant and indispensable safety device, and it is
necessary to follow certain procedures when re-
filling the tank. When you have used up all the
water in the tank, do as follows:
1d.Switch the Illuminated generator switch (2)
off.
2d.Press the steam request button on the iron
(10) so as to fully exhaust the steam supply
from the tank.
3d. Switch the Illuminated iron switch (3) off.
4d. Disconnect the power supply cable from the
mains.
5d.Unscrew anti-clockwise the patented safety
cap (1).
6d.Wait for a few minutes to allow the genera-
tor tank to cool down.
7d.When the tank is cool proceed to carefully
refill the tank as described in paragraph 1a
of the section “PREPARATION FOR USE”.
If refilling the generator when not completely
cooled, we recommend that you carefully
pour gradually only very small quantities of
HOT (not cold) water at each pouring into
the tank, so as to avoid spitting from the
tank, and keep exposed skin and face well
away from the aperture.

• Before attempting any maintenance
operation, make sure to always discon-
nect the appliance from the mains.
• To clean the body of the appliance, simply
use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or
detergents, which may harm the body ma-
terial.
