TRANSMISSION
TRANSMISSION
This chapter describes the various methods of transmission available for you to choose according to your
needs. The two main methods are transmission from the ADF and transmission from memory. The facsimile
machine also enables you to send a document at a preset time, send a document - by using the memory - to
several different users immediately or at a preset time and to send reserved documents.
Finally, you can send documents by “polling”, i.e. send a document on request by the receiver, even while you’re
out.
For all the methods mentioned, make sure you prepare the document for tranmission as explained in the
“Preparing the document for transmission/copying” section of the “BEFORE TRANSMISSION/COPYING”
chapter.
We remind you that you can interrupt any of the procedures described in this chapter at any time by pressing
the STOP key. Note that if you press STOP during transmission, the connection is interrupted.
If no data is entered for two minutes while carrying out a procedure, the procedure is aborted and the
facsimile machine returns to stand-by mode.
If the document gets jammed during any transmission operation, the facsimile machine emits a beep and the
message “CHECK DOC. (XX)” appears on the display. Remove the document (see the “FILLING UP/
ELIMINATING PAPER JAMS” chapter); and then repeat the transmission procedure.
Note: To transmit a document (with a TX password enabled), type the password).
AUTOMATIC STORAGE
When enabled by means of the relevant operating system parameter, automatic storage enables you to
automatically store documents before sending them. To activate automatic storage, simply insert the document
in the ADF and dial the number of the correspondent (using one-touch keys, speed dialling codes or directly
on the numeric keypad).
This feature enables the documents to be retrieved immediately so that you can continue to work on them. In
addition, the errors that may occur are no longer a problem as the facsimile machine automatically retries the
pages that were not successfully sent, so that you can be sure that all of the document will reach its destination.
In transmission, the facsimile machine can store about ten pages of A4 in standard resolution.
When operations requiring the use of the memory are performed, check the amount of free memory. If it is almost
full, clear it of undesired documents to make space for new ones (see the "Connection activities" and "Number
of documents in the memory" sections of the "ACTIVITY HANDLING" chapter).
The message “STORING” appears on the display while the document is being stored. Once the document has
been stored, the message “STORING COMPLETE” appears on the first line of the display for a few seconds
and the message “PAG. NO.: XX DOC. R.: XXXX” appears on the second line. The latter message provides
you with reference data that you may require for document deletion or transmission cancellation operations, i.e.
the number of pages and the document reference number.
TRANSMISSION FROM THE ADF
This is the traditional method of transmission. Insert the document, call the correspondent, wait for the end of
the operation and then pick up the document and continue to work on it, if necessary. If automatic storage has
been enabled, the machine will automatically store the document once the number has been dialled. See the
"AUTOMATIC STORAGE" section for further details.
o The facsimile machine is on. The document has been inserted and prepared for transmission (see the
“BEFORE TRANSMITTING/COPYING” chapter).
