Installation instructions

– Installation may only be carried out by qualified fitters. –

Please read carefully prior to installation

Numbers in square brackets, e. g. [1.05 a], refer to the corresponding pages and

illustrations in the illustration section.

Prior to starting the installation of the operator, please observe the closing tech-

nique of the up-and-over garage door. The up-and-over garage door leaf should

close automatically in the last bit.

1 Close the garage door completely and secure against unintentional opening. Se-

cure the lock. [1.10 a]

2 Remove the right roller block first [1.10 b]. Then take the track off the track connec-

tor. Push the roller block off the track backwards. Reconnect the track to the track

connector [1.10 c]. Clean the track, because the power is transmitted from the ope-

rator to the garage door via the operator wheels. Please use suitable cleaning

agents, e. g. cleaner’s naphtha or methylated spirit.

3 Insert the operator axle / wheels. Make sure the operator wheels are in the right po-

sition [1.10 e]. Push the roller block onto the shaft of the operator wheel. Connect

the roller block parallel to the garage-door leaf with three screws 6.3 x 19 [1.10 f].

4 Repeat the dismantling/installation procedure for the left roller block.

5 Installing the operator head. Take the housing lid off the operator. There are two

pre-punched holes in the upper area of the garage-door leaf profile. Mount the

operator there with two screws 6.3 x 32 [1.10 g and h].

6 Installing the bolt latch in the upper area of the frame profile. There are two pre-

punched holes in the upper area of the frame profile. Mount the bolt latch there with

two screws 6.3 x 32. Make sure the spring-loaded catch fits into the bolt latch po-

sitively [1.15 a and b].

7 Installing the operator pipes. Telescopic operator pipes are included in the scope

of delivery. First push the pipe without the pressed-on square pin off the roller

block on the axle until the boreholes are on top of each other. Screw the roller block

and the operator pipe together with a self-tapping screw M4 x 12 [1.15 c]. Then

push the other end with the pressed-on square pin onto the operator shaft of the

operator up to approx. 5 mm before the end. Caution! That enables the opera-

tor pipe to move laterally [1.15 d]. Now screw the two pipes together. For this pur-

pose, use a screw with a drill point M3.9 x 13 mm [1.15 e].

8 Before starting to install the emergency unlocking, disable the bolt bars. For that

purpose, loosen the fastening screws and push the bolt bars all the way towards

the centre of the lock. Then fasten the screws finger-tight again to prevent the bolt

bars from moving [1.15 f and g]. Hang up the emergency unlocking in the operator

[1.15 h]. Drill a 2 mm hole in the inner handle [1.20 a], and pull the steel wire rope

through. Secure with a terminal. Check the emergency unlocking function. Cau-

tion: the steel wire rope should be loose. Do not pull it tight.

9 Screw the transformer holder (storage-battery holder) to the centre of one of the

tracks (mains socket side) [1.20 a].

10 Install the spiral cable along the garage-door leaf with spring terminals [1.20 c]. Fix

it to the roller block in addition.

11 Insert the plug in the operator housing [1.20 d], and insert the mains plug in the

mains socket.

12 Take the rubber buffer off the track connector, and insert it in the track [1.20 e].

Programming instructions:

Registering transmitters:

13 When switching on the device for the first time, a transmitter has to be registered.

13.a Press the blue switch on the underside of the operator, and keep it press un-

til a short beep occurs after approx. 4 seconds; then let the switch go

13.b The lamp will start to blink

13.c While the lamp blinks (approx. 10 sec.), the hand transmitter can be registe-

red by pressing one of the switches. The operator will acknowledge the suc-

cessful registration by a beep. Up to 6 hand transmitters can be registered. If

the attempt is made to register a seventh hand transmitter, the operator will

ignore it.

Setting the soft stop; starting a reference run

To set the soft stop, a reference run is required. During that run, the run time is mea-

sured and saved. That way, the operator can slow down before it reaches the respec-

tive end position.

14 Close the garage door, so the operator will open the garage door in the next run

15 Keep the switch on the operator pressed until a beep occurs after approx. 4 se-

conds; then let the switch go

16 The lamp will start to blink

17 Press the switch once again briefly

18 The lamp will stop blinking (the run times are now deleted; the next opening and

closing will be reference runs)

19 Press the switch on the operator or the hand transmitter to start the reference run

‘open’

20 The garage door will open

21 As soon as the garage door is fully open, the operator will stop and acknowledge

the reference run ‘open’ by a brief blinking of the lamp

22 Press the switch on the operator or the hand transmitter to start the reference run

‘close’.

23 The garage door will close

24 As soon as the garage door is fully closed, the operator will stop and acknowledge

the reference run ‘close’ by a brief blinking of the lamp

Note: The reference run is not ended by pressing the switch or operating the trans-

mitter, but only by operating the internal power limit (power rocker).

If the operator was not stopped by having reached the end position, but by an

obstacle, etc., the setting procedure must be fully repeated.

Cancelling a transmitter, deleting or resetting the soft stop

All operator settings can be deleted (reset).

• Press the switch, and keep it pressed until a second beep occurs after approx. 8

seconds; then let the switch go

• The lamp will blink three times (if mains-operated) or five times (if battery-operated)

• All settings regarding the transmitter and soft stop are now deleted

Automatic recognition of mains or battery operation

The operator automatically recognises which power source it is connected to. If the

operator is connected to the mains, the lamp will blink three times. If it is connected to

a storage battery, the lamp will blink five times.

Notes on battery operation

Commissioning

• The storage battery must be fully charged

to make it operational. It can only be

charged at a temperature between 5° and

40°C. For that purpose, connect the bat-

tery pack to a 230V mains socket with the

supplied 230V cable.

• If the storage battery is completely

empty, the charging can take up to 15

hours. When charging, the LED is red.

The charging should not be interrupted until the storage battery is full and the LED

switches to green. The device should not be connected to the mains for more than

48 h.

Note: If the storage battery is almost empty or if it is defect, the LED might only be

dimly red or even completely off at first. That will change as soon as the storage bat-

tery has recharged a little. In this case, the storage battery is charged, even though the

LED is not on. The capacity of the storage battery diminishes with each charging/di-

scharging. If stored at a too high or too low temperature, the capacity will also gra-

dually diminish. But the storage battery will definitely be rechargeable and discharge-

able for a period of 6 months after purchase. After these 6 months, we recommend

replacing the storage battery if its capacity is too low.

Installing the battery pack

If possible, the battery-pack holder should be mounted in the middle of the garage-

door track. Make sure it is mounted firmly. The holder can also be mounted to a wall.

In that case, make sure the cable to the operator is still long enough. The spiral cable

should not be stretched too much; otherwise, the storage battery might be pulled off

the holder, or the plug might be pulled out of the battery pack.

Connecting the operator

To connect the operator to the battery pack, plug the connecting cable of the opera-

tor into the right-hand socket of the battery pack (see connection diagram).

Reserve power

If the storage battery is intact and fully charged, the reserve power of the operator will

last for approximately 20 days at 20°C (at 3 cycles per day; 1 cycle means opening and

closing once). This reserve power is less if the temperature is low or very high. The re-

serve power of rather old storage batteries is also less. Should the storage battery be-

come weak, the operator will sound a regular beep. Should this beep occur after a run,

the battery power will last for approximately two more days. The beep will stop ap-

proximately 1 minute after the run. Should the battery capacity become too low during

a run, the operator will stop immediately and signalise that the battery is empty by

beeping three times. The operator will then be blocked for roughly 10 seconds and

cannot be activated.

Caution: If the storage battery is empty,

the garage door can be operated manually

via the installed emergency unlocking.
