Please note:

4. Setting the hotplate
K eeping coee warm on the hotplate aects the taste
of your coee. T o a void this you should enjo y your
coee fresh, b y drinking it as soon af ter br ewing as
possible. Unnecessar y warming also uses valuable
energy . The factory settings for the appliance ar e for
40 minutes of warming. After this the hotplate tur ns
o automatically . This time can be changed as needed:
• Hold down the ST AR T -button and by briefly
pressing the M-butt on set the desired time
(20, 40 or 60 minutes). The curr ent warming
time will be shown in the displa y .
• Once you ha ve set the desired warming time
let go of the button. Y our setting is now sa ved.
• The last setting chosen remains e ven after removing
the pow er cable .
5. Coff ee preparation
For ar omatic coffee flav our and the best fit of your
coffee filter in the filter holder we r ecommend using
Melitta
®
coffee filters size 1x4
®
.
• Ensure that the po wer cable is plugged in.
• Open the lid on the water tank .
• Pour the r equired amount of cold water into the
water tank using the glass jug. With the help of the
level markings on the tank you can select the
requir ed number of cups (2/4/6/8/1 0).
• Close the water tank lid and place the glass jug with
closed lid in the appliance.
• Set the number of cups to the amount of water
in the water tank . The number of cups is shown
in the displa y .
Note: Ensure that the select ed number of cups
corr esponds to the amount of water in the water
container . Please note that when making coee
all the water in the water tank is used. If the
number of cups and the amount of water do not
corr espond to each other then this can lea d to you
not getting the coee fla vour y ou would like.
5.1 Using coffee beans
• When the bean container is completely full, you can
bre w enough coee for 1 0 cups 2 or 3 times. R oast-
ed coee beans lose their fla vour . Only fill coee
beans in the container which will be used within a
fe w da ys.
• Open the bean container lid and fill with coee
beans . Then close the lid.
Note: T o ensur e the grinder functions per fectly
do not use caramelised coee beans. Do not put
ground coee in the bean container .
• Open the swivel filter t o the lef t.

coee filter at the embossed
seams and place it in the filter holder . Use y our
hand to pr ess the filter in to ensur e the best fit.
• Swiv el the filter back into the appliance. An audible
click indicates that the filter is in pla ce .
• T urn the grind dial , to select the requir ed grind
level (fr om fine to coarse). The grind dial allows y ou
to select fr om 3 dierent settings. Settings betw een
the symbols are also possible. The ‘fine’ setting is
for standard coee. This setting ma y give the coee
a slightly bitter chara cter . If a coarser setting is
selected the coee will be less bitter .
• Press the button t o select coee strength . The
selected coee str ength is shown in the displa y .
One coee bean is for mild, tw o beans for
medium and three beans for str ong.
• T urn the appliance on using the star t button ON/
OFF . Coee preparation begins and the gr een
LED flashes.
Note: The appliance has an ov erload safety function
of the grinder , which prot ects the grinder against
damage by f oreign objects in the coee beans. If you
hear a loud chattering, unknown noise during the
grinding process, s witch the applia cne o and
clean the grinder as described in point 7.
• When the coee is rea dy the green LED is illu-
minated but stops flashing. The hot plate k eeps your
coee warm and switches o automaticall y af ter
the time you ha ve set (see point 4). This a voids the
unnecessary use of electricity and saves energy . Y ou
can of course turn the appliance o manuall y at any
time .
• The drip stop pre vents coee dripping when you
remo ve the jug from the appliance.
• The used coee filter can be disposed of simply and
easily using the r emovable filter insert.
5.2 Using ground coff ee
• T o use gr ound coee select the ground coee
setting .
• Open the swivel filter t o the lef t .

• Put the ground coee in the coee filt er . The amount
of coee you use depends on y our personal t aste. W e
recommend using 6g t o 8g of ground coee per cup .

OFF . Coee preparation begins and the gr een

6. Timer F eature
The appliance is equipped with a TIMER. This allows
you to start bre wing coffee automatically at the time
you set.
• Prepar e the appliance as described in point 5. ‘ coee
preparation ’ but without pressing the star t button
ON/OFF .
• T o set the r equired star t time, hold down the
TIMER button . The first time you set it, the
time indicator and the clock symbol will flash in the
displa y . Set the requir ed st art time by repeatedl y
pressing the H and M butt ons . It is possible to
speed this up by holding in the r espective button.
• T wo seconds after you let g o of the TIMER button
the curr ent time will be displa yed again. The star t
time you selected is sa ved until a new time is se-
lected or the appliance is r emoved fr om the power
supply .
• Pressing the TIMER button briefl y activates the
timer featur e for automatic coee pr eparation. The
star t time you set appears briefl y in the displa y .
The clock symbol in the displa y and the white
LED are illuminat ed .
• The appliance star ts preparing coee aut omatically
at the time you set.
• If you do not r emove the appliance fr om the mains
electricity or programme a ne w st ar t time then the
time pre viously set is sav ed.
• The TIMER feature can be dea ctivated at any
time by pr essing the TIMER button . The white
LED and the clock symbol are no longer
illuminated.
7. Cleaning and car e
External cleaning
• The housing and the water tank can be cleaned with
a soft, damp cloth.
• The glass jug and lid and the filter insert are dish-
washer safe.
• The hotplate can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth
when it is cold.
For the best coffee fla vour w e recommend cleaning
the bean container , the grinder and the ground coff ee
chute regularly . This is easiest when the bean contain-
er and the grinder are completely empty .
Remo ve bean container :
- T urn the bean container anti-clockwise until the
triangular indicators ar e aligned .
- R emov e the bean container from the appliance
and empty it completely .
• Put the bean container in place:
- Align the triangular indicators .
- Lightly pr ess down on the bean container and
turn it clockwise until it clicks into pla ce .
• Put a coee filter in the filter holder .
• Empty the grinder completely:
- Set the appliance at 2 cups and one coee
bean .
- Press the start button ON/OFF and allow the
appliance to grind until empty .
- After grinding use the ON/OFF button to turn
the appliance o.
• Remo ve the bean container again as described
abov e.
Clean the grinder :
- T urn the grind level dial t o ‘Open’ .
- Lift up the brack et and pull the grinder ring out
of the grinder .
- Clean the grinder with the cleaning brush
pro vided .
- T o completel y remo ve ground coee deposits
we r ecommend using a vacuum cleaner .
• Open the swivel filter and dispose of the coee
filter .
Clean the ground coff ee chute:
- Holding the appliance in both hands car efully la y
it on its back.
- Now y ou can firstly clean the area abov e the
swivel filt er with the brush and a damp cloth.
- T o open the gr ound coee chute
hold down
the button f or ground coee f or 5 seconds.
- The ground coee chut e flap opens and the
chute can be cleaned with the brush..
- T o close the flap on the gr ound coee chute
hold down the button f or ground coee f or
5 seconds.
- Put the swivel filt er back in pla ce and st and
the appliance up again.
