R-toets
Telefoons die voorzien zijn van een R-toets (terugvraagtoets), zijn ook geschikt
voor aansluiting op telecominstallaties. Bij moderne telefoons triggert de R-
toets eveneens de Hook-flash-functie: de prestatieverbinding wordt gedurende
170 - 310 ms onderbroken en er wordt aan de bemiddelaar gemeld dat het bij
de volgende MFV-tonen om commando’s aan de bemiddelaar gaat. Deze
functie is vereist voor prestaties als weervragen/wisselgesprekken voeren en
conferentiegesprek met drie, waarvan minstens twee externe deelnemers.

TAE
Afkorting voor telekommunicatie-aansluitingsunit. In Duitland gebruikelijke
stopcontacten voor de aansluiting van analoge telecommunicatietoestellen op
het T-net. Bij de TAE-stekkers en de TAE-stoppcontacten wordt een
onderscheid gemaakt tussen F- en N-codering. F-codering: F betekent
telefoneren. Deze stekkers zijn aangebracht op de telefoons. N-codering: N
betekent niet telefoneren. Deze stekkers zijn aangebracht op bijkomende
toestellen zoals bijvoorbeeld faxen, modems en antwoordapparaten. Er zijn
verschillende uitvoeringen beschikbaar. Het vaakst wordt de driedubbele TAE
(NFN) gebruikt, waarop een telefoon en twee bijkomende toestellen kunnen
worden aangesloten.

Oorspronkelijk in de Verenigde Staten gebruikt stekkerformaat, dat
ondertussen ook in Europa de norm voor telefoonaansluitingen is geworden.
