the back plate cracks, this can lead to the secondary air being wrongly distributed in the combustion
chamber, and the plate should therefore be replaced. It will not have any effect on the stove’s efficiency
if the side plates crack. The side plates and smoke shelf should, however, be replaced once the wear
and tear reaches deeper than half of the original thickness.

Lift off the rear panel. On a cold stove, the starting point of the feeler is controlled. The starting point
on a cold stove is about 10

above horizontal.
It should feel easy going and bouncy when you push it, no matter if the stove is cold or hot. By rising
or falling temperatures it must not move at a bound. The damper plates must be dry and clean and
slide together unhindered. Control bars and slide gates may have to be smeared with WD40 (never
oil).
Door/glass
Check that the air slots in the door frame are free of ashes and soot particles.
If the glass door is grimed with soot, it can be cleaned with slightly dampened paper that has been
dipped in the ashes. Check at regular intervals that the seals in the doors and the ash drawer are
undamaged and soft. If not, these should be replaced. Use only the manufacturer’s sealing gaskets.
The outside surfaces
It is not normally necessary to give any treatment to the surface. However, any damage to the lacquer
can be treated with Senothermspray.
Guarantee
Lack of maintenance will nullify the guarantee!
operatIonal problems
Glass grimed with soot
• The wood is too damp. Only use logs that have been stored for a minimum of 12 months under a
pent roof, and with a maximum moisture content of 20%.
• The door’s seals may not be working properly.
Smoke in the room when the door is opened.
• The draught control regulator in the chimney may be closed. Open the regulator.
• Lack of draught in the chimney. See the paragraph on the chimney or contact a chimneysweep.
• The cleaning hatch is leaking or has fallen out. Replace or refit the cleaning hatch.
• Never open the door while the logs are aflame.
Runaway burning
• The seal in the door or the ash drawer is leaking. Fit new seals.
• If there is too strong a draught in the chimney, it may be necessary to close the regulator arm
further. When the stove is not in use, all control regulators should be closed.
For any running problems that you are not able to remedy yourself, please refer to the supplier where
you bought the stove.
