1. SAFETYREGULATIONS
1.1 GENERALSAFETYREGULATIONS
Read carefully before usingthe machine.
A)TRAINING
1
) Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the controls
andthe properuse oftheequipment.
2)Neverallowchildrenorpeopleunfamiliarwiththeseinstructionsto
usethelawnmower.Localregulationscanrestricttheageoftheop-
erator.
3) Never mow while people, especially children, or pets are
nearby.
4)Keepinmindthattheoperatororuserisresponsibleforaccidents
orhazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheir property.

)Do notcarrypassengers.
6) All drivers should seek and obtain professional and practical
instruction.Suchinstructionshouldemphasise:
– the need for care and concentration when working with ride-on
machines;
– controlofaride-onmachineslidingonaslopewillnotberegained
bytheapplicationofthebrake.
Themain reasonsforlossofcontrolare:
– insufficientwheelgrip;
– beingdriventoo fast;
– inadequatebraking;
– thetypeofmachineisunsuitableforitstask;
– lackofawarenessoftheeffectofgroundconditions,especially
slopes;
– incorrecthitchingandloaddistribution.
B) PREPARATION
1)Whilemowing,alwayswearsubstantialfootwearandlongtrousers.
Do notoperate theequipment whenbarefoot orwearing opensan-
dals.
2)Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used
andremoveallobjects whichcanbe thrownbythemachine.
3) DANGER!Petrolis highlyflammable:
– storefuelincontainersspecificallydesignedforthis purpose;
– refueloutdoorsonlyanddonotsmokewhilerefuelling;
addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Neverremovethecapof
the fuel tank or add petrol while the engine is running or
when theengine ishot;
– Ifpetrolisspilled,donotattempttostarttheenginebutmovethe
machine away from the area of spillage and avoid creating any
sourceofignitionuntil thepetrolvapourshavedissipated;
– replaceallfueltankandcontainercapssecurely.
4)Replacefaultysilencers.
5)Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblades,blade
bolts andcutter assemblyarenot worn ordamaged.Replaceworn
ordamaged bladesandbolts insetstopreservebalance.
6) On multi-bladed machines, take care as rotating one blade can
causeother bladestorotate.
C) OPERATION
1)Donotoperatetheengineinaconfined spacewheredangerous
carbonmonoxidefumescancollect.
2)Mowonlyindaylightorgoodartificiallight.
3) Before attempting to start the engine, disengage all blade
attachmentclutchesandshiftintoneutral.
4)Do notuseon slopesofmorethan 10°(17%).
5)Rememberthereisnosuchthingasa“safe”slope.Travelon
grassslopesrequiresparticularcare.Toguardagainstoverturning:
– donot stoporstartsuddenlywhengoingupordownhill;
– engage the clutch slowly and always keep the machine in gear,

especiallywhen travellingdownhill;
– machine speeds should be kept low on slopes and during tight
turns;
– stayalertforhumpsandhollowsandotherhiddenhazards;
never mowacross theface ofthe slope.
6)Use carewhen pullingloadsorusingheavyequipment:
– useonly approveddrawbarhitchpoints;
– limitloads tothoseyoucansafelycontrol;
– donot turnsharply.Usecarewhenreversing;
7)Stopthebladesrotatingbeforecrossingsurfacesotherthangrass.
8) Never operate the machine with defective guards, or with-
out safetyprotectivedevices inplace.
9) Do not change the engine governor settings or overspeed
t
he engine.Operatingtheengineatexcessivespeedcanincrease
thehazardofpersonalinjury.
10)Beforeleavingtheoperator’sposition:
– disengagethe powertake-offandlowertheattachments;
– changeinto neutralandsettheparkingbrake;
– stopthe engineandremovethekey.
11) Disengage drive to attachments, stop the engine and re-
move theignition key:
– beforeclearingblockagesoruncloggingchutes;
– beforecleaning,checkingorworkingonthemachine;
– afterstrikingaforeignobject.Inspectthemachinefordamageand
makerepairsbeforerestartingandoperatingtheequipment;
– Ifthe machinestartstovibrateabnormally(check immediately).
12)Disengage drivetobladeswhentransporting ornotinuse.
13)Stop theengineand disengagedriveto theattachment:
– beforerefuelling;
– beforeremovingthegrasscatcher.
14)Reducethethrottlesettingduring engine run-outand, ifthe en-
gineis providedwithashut-offvalve,turnthefuel offat theconclu-
sionof mowing.
15)Theusageofaccessoriesdifferentfromthoserecommendedby
Hondamaycausedamagetothemachinethatisnotcoveredbythe
warranty.
D) MAINTENANCE ANDSTORAGE
1) Keepall nuts, boltsand screwstightto besure theequipmentis
insafeworkingcondition.
2)Neverstoretheequipmentwithpetrolinthetankinsideabuilding
wherefumesmayreachanopenflameorspark.
3)Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringin anyenclosure.
4)Toreducethefirehazard,keeptheengine,silencer,batterycom-
partmentandpetrolstorageareafreeofgrass,leaves,orexcessive
grease.
5)Check thegrasscatcherfrequentlyforwearordeterioration.
6)Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
7)If thefueltank hastobedrained,thisshouldbedoneoutdoors.
8) On multi-bladed machines, take care as rotating one blade can
causeother bladestorotate.
9)Whenthemachineistobestoredorleftunattended,lowerthecut-
tingdeck.
