SETUP
RECORDINGS
The settings and configuration of the unit are adjusted in
SETUP window.To activate setup window in main menu
highlight it than press OK. Navigate in the window by means
of
5//6keys.
RECORD WITH SINGLE KEY
NOTE: The HDR253 has two tuners so you can make a
recording of one digital channel and watch a different
digital channel on the TV.
To record a programme simply press the RECORD key
The recording time of the programme will be
automatically obtained from the Electronic Programme
Guide ( EPG).
It is also possible to record a programme in the EPG by
selecting it and pressing the RECORD button
ADD RECORDS VIA TIMERS
Programmes can also be recorded by means of “Timers”
menu.Select "Timers" from Main Menu and press OK.
Press YELLOW button to add a new recording.
Select what you want to record.
Press GREEN button to store it.
When the programme starts it will automatically be
recorded.
RECORDINGS LIBRARY
All the recordings are kept in “Recordings library”. To show
the list of recordings press either LIB. button on your remote
control or access it from main menu.
Red bar: Indicates the space used on the Hard Disk.
Yellow bar:Yellow bar shows how much space has been set
for timer recordings.
Green bar: Shows the free space on the hard disk.

CHANNEL LIST
Channel list is the place where the channels are
managed.The following operations can be performed in this
menu:
Ø Navigating channel list Ø Deleting channels
Ø Renaming channels Ø Setting favourite list
Ø Adding locks to channels
PAUSE LIVE RECORDING
This feature allows you to freeze a programme if you need to
leave the TV for a while and resume watching the programme
from the same point when you return. Simply Press the
(Pause) button and the HDR253 immediately starts to record
the programme being watched. When you return simply
press the (pause) key again and it will start replaying whilst
continuing to record. At the end of the programme press the
stop button.
This Set-Top Box is equipped with a Common Interface (CI)
Slot. In order to receive scrambled digital channels you will
need a smartcard and a CAM from the service provider of
your choice. Follow the instructions below to activate the
CAM:
Insert the smart card into the CAM gently with the gold
coloured chip upwards.
Slide the CAM gently into the CI slot so that it sits tightly.
Once this is inserted, the system will detect the type of CAM
automatically and display it in the main menu.
WARNING: Do not insert or remove the module while the set-
top box is running.
This set-top box is automatically set to low power mode,
which means that it has a standby power mode of less than
3W. This is to help the environment by saving on electricity
used.
IMPORTANT: In this mode the front display will show no time
information & it may take up to 1 minute to power the unit on
from standby mode.When you turn the receiver to Standby it
can take a few minutes before the display disappears
Should you wish to deactivate this option please select
MENU SETUP/ CONFIGURATION / LOW POWER OPTION
/ NO.All normal functions will be reactivated and the unit will
switch on from standby in approximately 3 seconds.
