Follow these steps to clean and disinfect the
CLIMAMASKE thoroughly:
Quickstart
Initial Start-up
Plug the power cable into the bottom side of the
CLIMAMASKE ready for dry inhalation straight from the
box.
Plug power cable into wall outlet (power light is lit, device
heats up).
The CLIMAMASKE is ready for use after about 5 minutes
of preheating.
The quickstart instructions do not release the user from the
obligation to completely follow the instructions in the
operating manual!
I. Safety Notes
(a) Never use the CLIMAMASKE in the bathtub, when
showering, in a basin filled with water or with wet
hands.
(b) The exterior condition and functionality of the
CLIMAMASKE and the power cable has to be checked
before each use.
(c)
Remove cable from wall outlet and then from the
underside of the CLIMAMASKE after use. Allow appliance
to cool at least 15 min. before opening and cleaning.
(d) To inhale warm moist air only moisten the filter stone;
allow water to drain off stone; NEVER fill water into the
handpiece.
(e) Never store the CLIMAMASKE when wet but allow to dry
completely first. After the cooling off period, separate the
hand piece from the head piece so that the filter stone can
dry out.
(f) Do not leave the CLIMAMASKE unattended or cover when
in use (power light is lit).
(g) Do not use in the presence of flammable gases.
(h) Any repairs should be performed only by the manufacturer
HIRTZ & Co.
II. Description
Diagr. 1
Inhalation of Dry Warm Air
The appliance is ready for the inhalation of dry air straight
from the box. Just connect the mains power cable into the
underside of the CLIMAMASKE (Diagr. 1; 9). Make sure the
appliance is properly closed (both poles in the appliance plug
are centered)*. Then connect the power cable (Diagr. 1; 10)
with the wall outlet (power light Diagr. 1; 9 is lit).
It takes about 5 minutes for the appliance to heat up.
To aromatize the warm air, unscrew the threaded wick (Diagr.
1; 3) from the appliance and replace with the wick from the oil
bottle.
The warmth is adjusted with the supply of ambient air and the
temperature controller (Diagr. 1; 4) by opening and closing an
opening. At first, inhale at the lowest warmth level (largest
opening) and take small breaks. Increase the temperature of
the warm airflow according to tolerance by
increasing/decreasing the size of the opening.
Make sure the face mask (Diagr. 1; 1) rests firmly over mouth
and nose to prevent external air from being aspirated.
Inhalation of Moist Warm Air
The filter stone has to be soaked (Diagr. 1; 7) to prepare the
appliance for the inhalation of moist warm air. Disconnect the
appliance first from the mains power supply and then unplug
the power cable from the appliance itself. Now you are able to
open the CLIMAMASKE and remove the filter stone for
soaking.
NEVER fill water into the hand piece (Diagr. 1;
8) !
A safety system ensures that the
CLIMAMASKE can only be opened when the
power plug has been removed from the appliance. Never
use force to open the CLIMAMASKE!
Follow these steps to open the
CLIMAMASKE (Diagr. 2):
(a) Turn the hand piece (Diagr. 1; 8) to the
left to disconnect from head piece
(Diagr. 1; 2). Remove by pulling down.
(b)
Fill half of the included measuring cup
with boiled (but not boiling) water and
place the head piece with the filter stone
into the cup. Wait about 1 minute and
allow stone to drip off. Diagr. 2
(c) Insert the head piece with the soaked filter stone into the
hand piece and turn to the right to lock in place and
close the device
* (both poles in the appliance plug are
centered).
Make sure all elements are correctly positioned when closing
the appliance. The head piece and hand piece have to be
properly closed before the power cable can be plugged into
the appliance.
Please Note!
If you do not use the CLIMAMASKE immediately after
soaking and inserting the filter stone, the cavities will fill
with condensation. Place the appliance upright to allow the
condensation to drain.
Re-soak the filter stone every 30 minutes during prolonged
moist inhalation.
To finish the inhalation cycle, reduce appliance setting to
the lowest level of warmth and inhale for about 10 minutes
to become re-acclimated to the ambient air. Remain
another 10 minutes at normal room temperature before
proceeding into cold outside air.
III. Care, Cleaning and Disinfecting
Always remove the power cable from the wall
outlet and the appliance and allow the
appliance to cool off before cleaning and
opening!
Never immerse the hand piece with heating
element into water for cleaning.
It is best to wash the face mask (Diagr. 1; 1), head piece (Diagr.
1; 2) without threaded wick (Diagr. 1; 3), gasket and plastic ring
(Diagr. 1; 5 and 6) as well as the filter stone (Diagr. 1; 7) with
hot water and disinfect all (except the filter stone, which just
needs to be allowed to dry) with a chlorine-free spray
disinfectant applied to a cloth; alternately, boil all listed parts in
boiling water for about 2 to 5 minutes (NO vapor sterilization).
Allow all parts to dry completely after cleaning and
disinfecting and reassemble the appliance by following
the steps above in reverse. Make sure all parts (Diagr. 1;
1-8 to 1-10) are properly positioned.
Only wipe the exterior of the hand piece with a moist, soft cloth
(moistened with clear, warm water or a chlorine-free spray
disinfectant); NEVER immerse in water or disinfectant solution.
Always remove the power cable from the wall outlet and
the appliance and allow the appliance to cool off before
opening.
Turn the hand piece (Diagr. 1; 8) to the left to disconnect
from head piece (Diagr. 1; 2). Remove by pulling down.
Another turn to the left removes the filter stone (Diagr. 1;
7) from the head piece.
Remove the gasket and ring (Diagr. 1; 5 and 6) and the
threaded wick (Diagr. 1; 3) from the head piece and pull off
the face mask (Diagr. 1; 1).
The appliance cannot be closed and the power cable cannot be
plugged into the appliance unless all parts and components are
assembled and fitted correctly.
