Tips for ironing
Before ironing, always check the garment label
to ensure you use the correct temperature setting.
Since an iron heats up much quicker than it cools
down, synthetic or mixed textiles, silk or similar
fabrics should be ironed first using lower temperature
settings.
Silk, wool or shiny textiles should be ironed inside
out. Velvet or similar fabrics should be ironed with
very little pressure and in one direction.
When ironing fabrics that require a lower
temperature setting, keep moving the iron so that it
does not stick to the fabric.
Do not use the steam function on silk; it could cause
stains.
100% wool garments can be ironed using steam.
Set the temperature control dial to MAX and the
steam control switch to . Lay a dry towel between
the garment and the iron.
Caution
Never iron on metal parts, such as zips, rivets or
metal buttons as they could damage the soleplate.
Always iron around these metal parts.
Cleaning and care
Caution
Never use petrol, solvents or abrasive cleaners, steel
wool, hard brushes or wood to clean any part of the
appliance.
Danger of burns! Do not touch the hot soleplate with
bare hands directly after ironing.
Remove limescale and other mineral deposits on
a regular basis.
Never hold the iron under running water and never
submerge it in water or any other liquid.
1 Before cleaning, turn the iron off and disconnect
the power plug from the earthed wall socket.
2 Let the iron cool down completely.
3 Use a slightly damp cloth to clean the exterior
of the iron. Then dry it thoroughly.
4 Wipe deposits off the soleplate with a slightly
damp cloth or if necessary, with a mild, non-
abrasive liquid cleaner.
Descaling the iron
Your iron has a decalcification box inside it to absorb
mineral deposits and soften the water. Although this
reduces the build-up of limescale and other deposits,
you still need to clean it. Descaling your iron extends
the quality and life of your iron and your clothes. If the
water is very hard in your area, you will need to use the
self-clean function more frequently.
1 Set the steam control switch
E
to .
2 Fill the water tank to MAX.
3 Put the plug in the earthed wall socket.
4 Set the temperature control dial
K
to MAX.
5 When the blue light goes out, unplug the iron.
6 Hold the iron over a sink making sure the soleplate
is facing down. Press and hold the steam control
switch
E
to self-clean .
7 Gently shake the iron until all the water has gone.
8 Repeat the process until you can no longer see
limescale deposits and then turn the iron off.
Tip
If your tap water is very hard, mix 50% tap water
with 50% distilled water, or use distilled water.
Caution
If too much limescale builds up the appliance might
stop working. If that happens, take it to your service
centre.
Do not use any descaling products. They could
damage the appliance.
Storage
If you will not be using the steam iron for a long period
of time, please store it carefully.
Make sure the iron is disconnected from the power
supply.
Empty the water tank and make sure it is completely
dry when storing it away.
Store it in a cool, dry place.
Make sure the appliance is always kept out of the
reach of children.
