“Founded many, many years ago with the goal
of protecting humanity from out side threats.
Their methods, however, are dierent — more
draconian — than ours.”
“They’re enacting genocid e!” The man interrupts.
“They are nothing but a roving band of thugs,
killing every group of Inox and Vermlings the y
come across, and doing their best to eject the Inox
and Vermlings from this city.”
“They are more than thugs,” the woman shakes her
head. “They are very organi zed. This campaign is
alarmingly systemati c, and it needs to be stopped.
This city was founded upon the idea of all races
working together in harmony, and the Vigil has
twisted that around into somethin g perverse.”
“Their organizat ion will be their undoing,” the man
says. “We have information on where their ne xt
target will be - an Inox village in the northeast ern
foothills of the Watcher Mountains. We need you
to stop them. We need you to make an example of
their deplorable behavior.”

You walk along the streets of as
the sun
sets, just killin g time until you set out
on your next ex pedition in the mor ning.
A man meet s your eye, and you think
nothing of it at rst, bu t soon he is walking
next to you and mutteri ng under his breath.
“Your services are required . Please, follow me.”
You walk through the stree ts another block in
silence when he suddenly t urns to his left and
enters . You discreetly
enter after him and follow down a set o f stairs
into an ab andoned, run-down basement . On e
hidden doo r later, you nd yourself in a room
full of humans staring in tently at you.
“Sorry for the secrecy,” the man says, “ but we are
a group who values priva cy, and you never know
when the Vigil may be watching.
“We are , a socie ty
tasked w ith the protection and proliferation of
this city, and we have let a t hreat — the Vigil —
fester for far too long.”

pushes on the far wall to reve al a secret door.
When you enter, you see a small group of Inox
sitting around a rust ic table. An older fem ale begins
to speak. “We are ,
founded at the same time as t his city, to prot ect
it from any threat.
