Fuel Filter
The fuel tank is tted with a lter.
The fuel lter is situated at the free end of fuel pipe and can be picked out
through fuel port with a piece of hooked wire or the like.
Check the fuel lter periodically. Do not allow dust to enter the fuel tank (15).
A clogged lter will cause diculty when starting engine or abnormalities in
engine performance.
When the fuel lter is dirty, replace with a new fuel lter. Once the fuel lter is
picked out from the fuel tank, pull the fuel lter o the fuel line (Fig AC/AD).
Replace the new fuel lter by pushing it onto the fuel line until it is secure,
and then inserting the fuel lter and fuel line back into the fuel tank (Fig AE).
When the inside of the fuel tank is dirty, it can be cleaned by rinsing the tank
out with petrol.
The fuel lter should be changed only when it is showing signs of blockage
or there is insucient fuel being supplied to the motor.
Replacement fuel lters are available for purchase by calling 1800 909 909 or
by emailing help@powertoolsupport.com
Storage and Maintenance after use
1. Perform all the general maintenance recommended in the Maintenance
Section of your Instruction Manual.
2. Clean the outside surfaces of the hedge trimmer.
3. Check the fuel system for any leaks.
4. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank (15).
NOTE: Do not discard unwanted fuel with household waste. It must be
taken to an authorised repository site.
NOTE: Draining the fuel tank/oil reservoir should be done outdoors.
After the fuel is drained, start the engine. Run the engine at idle until the
unit stops. This will clear the carburettor of fuel. Allow the engine to cool
(approx. 5 minutes).
5. Drain the oil from the oil reservoir (17). After draining the oil from the oil
reservoir either rell with new clean oil or place a tag on the hedge trimmer
handle and write the words “NO OIL.
6. Using the supplied spark plug spanner (22), remove the spark plug (8).
7. Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from any source of ignition.
8. If disposing of the unit, recycle the unwanted materials instead of disposing
of them as waste. All tools, hoses and packaging should be sorted, taken to
the local recycling centre and disposed of in an environmentally safe way.
9. Check the operation of the On/O switch (10) controls prior to use or during
maintenance check. (refer to service centre if not operating correctly)
10. Check the condition of the blade for sharpness, cutting edge damage and
binding/ jamming of the blades prior to use or during maintenance check.
11. Check the clutch operation. With motor at idle, blades must not operate and
should only engage when motor is accelerated and stop when the motor is
slowed to idle prior to use or during maintenance check.
Removing a unit from storage
1. Remove spark plug (8).
2. Pull the recoil starter (9) briskly to clear excess oil from the combustion
chamber.
3. Clean and gap the spark plug (8) or install a new spark plug with the proper
gap (Fig Z ).
4. Prepare the unit for operation.
5. Fill the fuel tank (15) with fresh unleaded fuel. Do not use ethanol based fuels
– refer to the section on Fuelling for instructions.
6. Fill the oil reservoir (17) with the required 80mL of SAE 10W/30 4 stroke oil
BEFORE starting – refer to the section on Adding and Checking the oil for
instructions.
