Operating Manual
Time switch
”EMT707RCC”
Prescribed use
The product has a socket which can be switched on and off with the integrated electronic time switch. You can
plug in a lamp or a similar suitable device which will be switched on and off automatically. The time will be
automatically set by an integrated DCF time signal receiver.
The product is only designed for use in dry indoor rooms, it must not get damp or wet!
All safety instructions and notes on operation in this manual must be observed. These instructions not
only protect the device but in particular your health. Please read the entire operating manual before using
the product. Thank you!

Safety instructions
In case of any damages which are caused due to failure to observe these operating
instructions, the guarantee will expire! We do not assume any liability for resulting
damages!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury, caused by improper
use or the failure to observe the safety instructions. The guarantee will expire in any such
case!
The unauthorized opening, conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
The design of the product complies with the safety class I. As a voltage source only a proper
power socket (230V~/50Hz) of the public power supply system with protective conductor may
be used. Never interrupt the ground wire - danger of a life-threatening electric shock!
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children! Be especially careful
when children are around. Children might try to put objects through the openings of the socket
for example. This could cause a life-threatening electric shock!
The product must be operated in closed dry indoor rooms only. It must not get damp or wet.
Never touch the product (nor the plug nor the device you want to connect with the time switch)
when your hands are wet or damp. Otherwise there is danger of a life-threatening electric
shock!
Do not operate the product in very dusty environments or in rooms with explosive gases.
Never overload the product. The connected load must not exceed 3680 W (resistive load
only).
Some devices (e.g. fan heaters) must not be operated unattended. Please observe the
operating instructions of the respective device. There is a fire hazard for example.
Never pull the cable of the connected device to disconnect it from the socket. Always pull the
plug from the socket in the time switch by the gripping area provided on the side.
Do not leave packaging material unattended. It may become dangerous playing material for
children!
Handle the product carefully and do not drop it, knocks, blows or even a fall from a low height
can damage it.
If the housing of the product is damaged, do not use the product any more!
When it is connected to the mains, neither touch the time switch nor the connected device.
First switch off the mains socket to which the time switch is connected (i.e. switch off the circuit
breaker). Then you can remove the time switch from the mains socket. Afterwards you can
remove the respective device from the time switch. Bring it to a specialized workshop or
dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way.
Startup
Plug the time switch into a mains socket. If there is no display, press the countersunk ”R” (RESET) button, for
example with a toothpick.
A small rechargeable battery is integrated in the time switch. It allows a programming of the time switch, even
if it is not plugged in a mains socket.
Normally the battery of the time switch is low when it is sold. A complete recharge of the battery
takes about 2 hours.
If you wish to program the time switch immediately, plug it into a mains socket now.
When the internal battery is not charged sufficiently, there may be problems with the display (for
example if you charge a new time switch only for a few minutes etc.).
After you have plugged the time switch into a mains socket, the DCF receiver in the time switch takes about 15
minutes to receive the DCF time signal. During this time, the time display shows “- - : - -”; the radio reception
symbol in the top right corner of the display flashes.
The DCF transmitter near Frankfurt-on-the-Main has a range of up to 1500 km, in an ideal case even up to 2000
km. In this area the clock in the time switch is set automatically (also the daylight saving time changeover).
If the DCF signal was received properly, the time switch synchronizes the clock daily by several signal searches
in the night (at midnight, at 2 a.m. and at 4 a.m.), since there are the least interferences from other electric/
electronic devices.
The DCF range and the quality of the DCF signal reception might be affected when the time switch is very close
to other electronic devices (e.g. TV sets, computers) or to metal parts (steel doors, heaters, reinforced concrete
etc.)
If the time switch does not set itself by means of the DCF time, try to operate the time switch in different socket.
Press the countersunk reset button to make the time switch start a new signal search.
You can also set the clock in the time switch manually if there is no DCF reception in the place you have installed
it (for example in the basement). The time switch continues its signal searches at night, when it has been
successful it overwrites the manually set time.
Operating controls
”STD/HRS” button b) Press the button briefly = select 12/24 hour mode
b) Press the button a little bit longer (for 2 seconds) = set the clock manually
c) In the clock setting mode = set the hour
”MIN/CD” button a) When the time is displayed = switch to the countdown mode
c) In the clock setting mode = set the minute
”PGM” button a) Activate the program mode (for setting/selecting the switching times)
b) In the countdown mode = switching between clock and countdown time
”TAG/WEEK” button a) Select the operation mode (permanently ”on”, permanently ”off”, execution of the
switching program)
c) In the clock setting mode = set the day of the week
c) In the countdown mode = stop countdown
”R” button Countersunk button (reset), reset the time switch to the factory pre-settings (the
switching times you have programmed remain!)
Setting the clock manually
This is only necessary if no DCF reception is possible in the place where you have installed the
time switch. When you use the time switch for the first time (plug it into a socket for recharging
the battery, which is empty upon delivery) wait for about 15 minutes.
Plug the time switch into a different socket, keep as much distance to other electronic devices,
cables and metal surfaces as possible. Start a new signal search by pressing the small
countersunk reset button briefly.
When a signal search during the night has been successful (signal searches at midnight, at 2
a.m. and at 4 a.m.) the time switch uses the DCF time.
If you want to set the clock manually, proceed as follows:
The time switch must be in the time display mode.
Keep the ”STD/HRS” button pressed for about 2 seconds, until ”- - : - -” flashes in the display, then release
the button.
Set the hour by pressing the ”STD/HRS” button briefly (for quick adjustment hold the button a bit longer).
Set the minute by pressing the ”MIN/CD” button briefly (for quick adjustment hold the button a bit longer).
Press the ”TAG/WEEK” button for setting the day of the week.
Save the setting by pressing the ”PGM” button. The display returns to the time display.
If you do not press any button for several seconds, the time switch exits the setting mode
automatically and stores the settings.
Connecting a device
Plug the device into the socket at the front of the time switch.
Switch the device on (switch the main switch to ”I” or ”ON” for example). Otherwise the time switch will not
be able to switch it on or off automatically.
If the activation of the ON-switch in the device only sets it to standby (like in some stereos), the device can
unfortunately not be switched by means of the time switch.
With the ”TAG/WEEK” button on the time switch, you can select the desired operation mode, see next
chapter.
Select operation mode (automatic/manual)
The time switch must be in the normal time display (not in the programming mode etc.). Select the desired
operation mode with the ”TAG/WEEK” button; the operation mode is displayed.
The socket on the time switch and therefore the connected device is permanently switched on. The
switching programs are not yet active.
The socket on the time switch and therefore the connected device is permanently switched off. The
switching programs are not yet active.
The time switch works according to the program groups you have programmed and activated.
This means:
Programmed program group = on-times and off-times have been set
Activated program group = Program group does not show ”- - : - -” (see end of the chapter
”Programming”)
