Connection and getting started 17
Open installation:
If the speaker is installed in an
open environment, the bass range
should not be damped. The basis
for experiments should be the de-
fault positions (ACOUSTIC SPACE
= 0 dB, HF TRIM = 0 dB, LF CUT-
OFF = FLAT).
In fairly damped rooms (e.g. with
carpets, curtains, many plants etc.)
the treble can reasonably be in-
creased by means of the HF TRIM
switch (HF TRIM = +2 dB).
Nearfield installation (e.g. on a mix-
ing console):
The settings for the nearfield instal-
lation can be chosen similarly to the
open installation settings.
Alternative: In some cases it might
be useful to cut off the sound re-
production in the lower frequency
range (rumble filter) by means of
the LF CUTOFF switch.
The treble should be adjusted ac-
cording to personal gusto.
Close-to-wall installation (e.g. on a
speaker stand or on a wall con-
sole):
When placing a speaker close to
the wall the sound pressure level
especially in the bass range is in-
creasing. This often leads to a
smeary or bubbly bass sound. In
this case it is recommended to ad-
just ACOUSTIC SPACE to -2 dB or
even to -4 dB.
Installation in a rack / on a shelf:
For the installation in an on-wall-
rack there are similar rules as for
the close-to-wall installation (see
above).
On the other hand, for free in the
room located racks (partitions)
there are similar rules as for the
open installation.
