1. BASIS PRINCIPES VAN EEN TELESCOOP
A) Objectief lens.
Deze lens is verantwoordelijk voor het creëren van het eerste beeld en vooral van de
resolutie, helderheid en algemene kwaliteit van het beeld. Het is tevens de eerste stap in
het vergrotings proces.
B) Prisma
De eerste functie van een prisma is het beeld op te zetten zoals gecreëerd door de objectief
Lens. De tweede functie is het opvangen en doorgeven van de grootst mogelijke licht
opbrengst. Een prisma verminderd eveneens de focus van de lens en maakt de telescoop
kleiner en compacter.
C) Oculair lens of oogstuk.
Dit is een combinatie van twee tot vijf elementen, afhankelijk van het oogstuk ontwerp.
Het standaard oogstuk bestaat uit een dubbele lens of een achromatisch en een enkel
element. Deze elementen zijn verantwoordelijk voor de uiteindelijke vergroting en het
contrast van de spotter. In sommige oculair ontwerpen worden zoom en focus functies
toegevoegd aan het oogstuk. In dit geval vermeerderd het aantal lenzen en twee
instel mechanismen in de vorm van een ring of hendel zijn ingebouwd in het oculair
gedeelte.
D) Focus
Dit is een mechanische en een optische functie. Focus in een spotter wordt gewoonlijk
verkregen door een hendel of ring te draaien, deze actie regelt de instel lenzen zodat een
helder en scherp beeld te gecreëerd wordt. In een spotter kan dit mechanisme een helical,
worm of schroef type zijn.

2. SPOTTER TYPES EN GEBRUIK
Spotters worden onderverdeeld in twee 45 graden Porro
groepen: Porro prisma en Dakkant prisma [picture]
De Porro prisma wordt altijd gebruikt in spotting
scopes van hoge kwaliteit. Dit systeem heeft een 180 graden Dakkant
betere licht geleiding en resolutie dan het Dakkant [picture]
prisma omdat het prisma ontvangende oppervlak
groter is en de licht geleiding korter en directer.
Dit betekent dat het licht door minder oppervlaktes
moet reizen en het oculair bereikt met een grotere
hoeveelheid en intensiteit.
Dit systeem wordt gebruikt in astronomie, jacht,
surveillance, algemeen gebruik en fotografie.
