Coyote Scouts
Coyote‟s key aim is to contribute to road safety by encouraging Scouts (users) to respect the rules
of the road. Each Scout can communicate the presence of traffic incidents and / or live mobile
cameras to the Coyote Community by the simple press of a button. So each and every scout is
constantly contributing to the quality and reliability of the data transmitted to the Community. To
become a good Scout, all you need to do is to communicate incidents and answer questions asked
by your Mini Coyote v2 during your journey. The Scout confidence rating is central to the whole
philosophy of the Coyote Community. Therefore, your Coyote Scout rating evolves over time and
is based on the frequency and reliability of communication. The more a Scout actively
communicates, the more their confidence rating increases. Little or no active participation will
lower your Scout confidence rating.
To view your confidence rating, go to the Subscriber Info page on your Coyote device (Menu
Coyote → Subscriber Info).
You will see 2 types of Scouts display on your Mini Coyote v2:
Town Mode:
In minimised mode, your Mini Coyote v2 will display the number of Scouts (12 are
shown in the example picture) within the given radius (3 miles).
In maximised mode, your Mini Coyote v2 will display the same information as above
but also the type ( ) and name (B368) of the road you are driving on.
Road Mode:
In minimised mode, your Mini Coyote v2 will display the number of Scouts (12 are
shown in the example picture) who have passed the same point in the last half hour.
It also displays the distance between you and the nearest Scout (1mile in the example).
In maximised mode, your Mini Coyote v2 will display the same information as above
but also the type (Motorway or A-road ) and the name (M25) of the road.
The Scout confidence ( ) displayed on the screen indicates the average confidence rating of the
Scouts who have passed the same point in the last half hour.
