Connessioni d’ingresso (sorgenti)
Gli ingressi 1 e 2 dell’840E forniscono sia connessioni sbilanciate
(fono/RCA) che bilanciate (XLR). L’840E è stato progettato per
funzionare con prestazioni eccezionali quando si usa
un’interconnessione bilanciata.
I diagrammi sotto riportati illustrano il pre-amplificatore 840E collegato
al lettore CD Azur 840C in un configurazione sbilanciata (Figura 1) e una
configurazione bilanciata (Figura 2). L’840E può essere collegato anche
a sorgenti non Cambridge Audio che dispongono di uscite bilanciate.
In un sistema audio, le connessioni bilanciate sono concepite per il
rigetto di rumore elettrico, dovuto ad esempio a cavi di alimentazione
ecc. oppure alle correnti di disturbo che scorrono lungo le connessioni
di terra. Il principio di base di un’interconnessione bilanciata è di
ottenere il segnale desiderato mediante sottrazione, usando una
connessione a conduttori. Un conduttore di segnale (quello caldo
oppure in fase) trasporta il segnale normale, mentre l’altro (quello
freddo oppure a inversione di fase) ne trasporta una versione invertita.
L’ingresso bilanciato avverte la differenza tra le due linee per produrre il
segnale desiderato. Ogni tensione di rumore che appaia identica in
entrambe le linee (sono detti segnali di modo comune) viene cancellata
mediante sottrazione.
Accertarsi che l’interruttore Bilanciato/Sbilanciato degli ingressi 1 e 2
sia impostato sul tipo di connessione desiderato.

Sincronia potenza (comando attivazione/Standby)
Il pre-amplificatore Azur 840E, quando passa o esce dalla modalità
“Standby”, può (se desiderato) comandare automaticamente l’840W se
connesso con le prese per Control Bus (le prese per il bus di controllo
sono codificate con il colore arancione sul pannello posteriore dei
modelli Azur compatibili). Per consentire a questa caratteristica di
funzionare, i dispositivi devono essere collegati insieme tramite cavi
RCA/fono. Non occorre alcuna impostazione ulteriore.
Collegare l’uscita dal Control Bus dell’840E all’entrata del Control Bus
dell’840W. Continuare a collegare altri elementi Azur, se ciò fosse
richiesto per mettere in sincronia altri apparecchi (per maggiori
informazioni, fare riferimento al manuale dell’840E poiché per questa
procedura occorre una specifica configurazione).

Nota: L’840E ha un’uscita trigger utilizzabile anche per controllare la
condizione di Standby/accensione dell’840W. Anche questa procedura
serve semplicemente a collegare insieme due dispositivi (usando un
cavetto a doppio mini-jack mono da 3,5 mm, in questo caso).
Il metodo con Control Bus è raccomandato quando si utilizzano un 840E
e altri dispositivi Cambridge Audio dotati di ingresso/uscita per bus di
controllo.
L’ingresso/uscita trigger torna utile se si desidera controllare l’840W
(ma anche l’840E) da un altro elemento con uscite trigger (Installazione
personalizzata e/o sistemi Multi-Room, ecc.).
