BENNING SUN 2
Important information

Please read the detailed operating manual (see PDF file on
CD-ROM) before using the BENNING SUN 2.
The BENNING SUN 2 must be operated by qualified techni-
cal personnel only.

Only use the temperature sensors and connecting cables
included in the scope of delivery of the BENNING SUN 2.

Do not apply any electrical contact between the tempera-
ture sensors and bare live parts.
m
The BENNING SUN 2 is intended for measurements under
dry ambient conditions only.
m
The BENNING SUN 2 is supplied by means of two 1.5 V
mignon batteries (IEC LR6). It is allowed to use alkaline re-
chargeable NiCd or NiMH batteries.
Switching the device ON/OFF
Press the
3
key and the
4
key at the same time to switch the
device ON or OFF. After having switched the device ON, it is set to the
mode for measuring the insolation, the angle of inclination and the com-
pass bearing. Without pressing a key, the device switches OFF automati-
cally after approx. 120 seconds (APO, Auto-Power Off).
HOLD function
Press the
7
key to store the displayed values in the LC display for
max. 120 seconds. The HOLD indicator
8
conrms that the values are
stored. Press the
7
key again to switch back to the measuring mode

Data logger set-up
1. Press the
7
key (LOG) for > 5 seconds to activate the data
logger. Display: "LOG"
Alternately, the display shows the occupied / free memory space
as well as the battery voltage / the measuring interval in min-
utes.
2. Press the
7
key (LOG) again for > 5 seconds to set the
measuring interval. Display: "Int"
Press the

or
5
keys to increase or decrease the mea-
suring interval (1 minute to 60 minutes) in increments of one
minute.
3. Press the
3
key to display the memory mode. Display: "dAtA"
Press the
4
or
5
keys to select "StOP" (if the memory
is full) or "rOLL" (if you want to overwrite the oldest measured
values continuously).
4. Press the
3
► key again to delete the memory. Display: "dEL"
Select "YES" or "nO" by pressing the
4
▲ or
5
▼ keys to de-
lete the memory.
5. By means of the
7
key (OK), the setting can be stored at any
time. Press the
3
key or the
4
key to exit the data logger.
Starting / stopping the data logger
1. Press the
7
key (LOG) for > 5 seconds to activate the data
logger. Display: "LOG"
2. Press the
7
key (LOG) again and then the
7
key (OK) to
confirm "run". The measured values are written into the internal
memory including a time / date stamp. The LC display goes out
and the device switches over into the energy-saving stand-by
mode.
3. Press any key to display the progress of the data logger. The LC
display goes on and then goes out again.
4. To stop the data logger, press any key to display the data log-
ger. Press the
7
key (LOG) and then the
7
key (OK) to
confirm "StOP". Press the
3
key or the
4
key to exit the
data logger.
Reading out the data logger via the USB interface
1.
Install the driver and download program from the CD-ROM once.
2. Connect the BENNING SUN 2 to your PC by means of the USB
connecting cable and switch the device ON.
3. Start the download program, select / refresh the COM port and
click "Download".
4. The download of measured values starts.
