GARDEN TRIMMER SAFETY
WARNING: Hold the tool by dry insulated
gripping surfaces only.
WARNING: If the trimmer becomes jammed,
switch off immediately. Remove the battery
before attempting to remove trapped nylon
line.
WARNING: Do not set up with excessively
long nylon line or feed line, especially when
used in lawn edging mode. The surplus line
may be cut off during use and thrown towards
the face of the operator.
WARNING: Never place hands or feet close to
the cutting line when there is a charged battery
connected. The tool may unintentionally oper-
ate causing injury.
WARNING: This appliance is not intended for
used by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabili-
ties, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the appliance by
a person responsible for their safety. Children
should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
a. Always check the work area for hidden
objects, such as stones, masonry,
fencing, cables etc. Be sure that it is safe
to cut before starting the job.
b. Always wear appropriate safety equip-
ment. Use of this tool requires gloves, eye
or face protection, dust mask, ear defend-
ers, hard hat, and sturdy clothing.
c. Assess your own physical condition.
Never use a garden trimmer when tired,
unwell, or under the inuence of drugs or
alcohol.
d. Ensure other people are a safe dis-
tance away from the work area before
starting to cut. Never allow children or
pets near to the work area.
e. Do not use this product in wet condi-
tions. Ensure that material to be cut is dry
before starting work.
f. Do not use this tool if guards are miss-
ing or damaged.
g. This tool should only be used in an
upright position, with the spool or
blade close to the ground.
h. Walk slowly when carrying this tool.
Freshly cut grass or brush is slippery and
may conceal trip hazards.
i. Only use correct nylon trimmer line or
specialist blades designed for your
tool. Attempting to use or adapt any other
kind of cutting accessory is highly
dangerous.
j. Never pass arms or legs near to the
blade when cutting. Always stand in a
stable position, well back from the cutting
area.
k. Be prepared for the possibility of kick-
back in some circumstances. Correct
use and regular maintenance will signi-
cantly reduce the chance of kickback
occurring.
l. Always switch off the tool before cross-
ing over gravel paths or roads.
m. Always ensure that the motor ventila-
tion slots are kept clear of debris. This
allows the motor to maintain a normal safe
operating temperature.
n. Never leave the tool unattended out-
side when there is possibility of rain.
Place the tool in a rain-proof outbuilding or
bring inside the home to prevent an elec-
trical hazard and damaging or destroying
the tool.
o. In hot weather the tool may stop oper-
ating due to excessive temperature in
the motor (or battery pack on cordless
tools). Do not attempt to use the tool
again until the tool has fully cooled. If
possible try to avoid using the tool at peak
midday temperatures or try to keep to the
shade as much as possible.
IMPORTANT: Switch off and disconnect the
mains supply or battery when;

Before performing maintenance on the
tool.
BEFORE FIRST USE
Remove the machine and the accessories from
the packaging. Check the machine for trans-
port damage and do not use the machine in
case of damages. Keep the packing materials
away from children, risk of suffocation!
INTENDED USE
Battery-powered, portable, light-duty garden
tool for cutting grass and small weeds using a
rotating trimmer line. Built-in rollers allow the
tool to be used as a lawn edge tool.
PREPARING THE TOOL FOR USE
WARNING: Ensure the battery is disconnected
before attaching or changing any accessories,
or making any adjustments.
Trimmer assembly
1. Attach the Guard (10) using the xing
included as shown in Image A. Ensure the
xings hold the guard securely in position.
2. Adjust the tool to the required length by
partially unscrewing the height adjustment
(9). Adjust then re-tighten the height
adjustment.
3. Attach the Auxiliary Handle (1) with the
provided xings (if not pre-tted).
NOTE: The Auxiliary Handle is fully adjustable
and must be positioned each time to ensure
that the user is comfortable using the trimmer.
Mode selection
1. Press and hold the Mode Selector (15),
and rotate the end of the trimmer.
2. When the trimmer has successfully
located, release the function change but-
ton. Check the head is secure by attempt-
ing to rotate the head without using the
function change button. The head should
not move.
